I just activated a sprint alcatel flip phone (SPP ALCATEL 2017B FLIP) from the walgreen (the $1.99 deal couple days ago)

Looks like FED is not in effect yet.

If you still have phones that were not able to be activated last night because of the error message, you might want to try now.

Hope this help someone.

The title/first post is a little misleading. So as to not provide false hope, the general rule is that the MAJORITY (95%) of Virgin Mobile, Boost Mobile and Sprint Prepaid phones (less than 12 months on MVNO) will FAIL Financial Eligibility Check, there are a few exceptions that are passing. But without more data, a pattern can't be established as to why they are allowed to pass.

Of course devices that have been on Sprint (or their respective MVNO) for 12+ months have met FED criteria so they are allowed to pass.

Please post which phone works (SPP, VM or BOOST?) and model

0. General: Older PREPAID phones bought b4 Dec 2014 and older passed the new R+ check, ie passed the fed.

1. (op) SPP ALCATEL 2017B FLIP, on the Truly Free 2 plan at 11:38 AM Central Time

2. Boost Huawei Union on Endless Summer Plan @ 09:00 AM pacific time

3. Sprint Pre-Paid Moto E 2nd Gen on Truly Free @ 7 pm EST (04/18/2016).

Confirmed to fail FED check:

1) SPP ALCATEL 2017B FLIP (Sprint Box) at 12:38 PM Central Time
https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=83965655&postcount=37

2) Best Buy VM LG Tribute 2 NIB

3) SPP ALCATEL 2017B FLIP @ 5:07PM EST

4) Boost Huawei Union @4:15PM CST

5) Virgin Tribute 2 (bought black Friday at BB)

6) Sprint Pre-Paid Moto E 2nd Gen, new in box, fails FED 4/17. same esn passed prior to 4/17.

7) Virgin Mobile Alcatel Elevate fails 4/24/2016 (purchased same day). never checked ESN prior to FED deadline (4/17).

Mixed Case:

Evidence of R+ phone being deactivated and later able to re-activate without a FED block vs. identical phone rejected by FED:

My Alcatel flip did not pass the checker this morning but a new Virgin flip I had laying around did. Good thread to start so we can determine what phones will still activate.

could be, I wouldn't get my hopes up. Next question is will swaps work? They need to be deactivated but sometimes you get a free pass with KEEP ACTIVE orange button.

I think last night, everyone was receiving this error.

Device could not be activated: EKS.REPLY03 : MQJE001: Completion Code '2', Reason '2033'.

I got that too last night, but the error was gone this morning, and I was able to activate the phone.

The flip phone does not require a sim card. Not sure if that makes a difference.

Ha! I had just posted elsewhere that I thought yours failed last night because the system wasn't letting anything activate at that time. So I am not surprised it activated for you just now when you powered up.

maybe all the fear and panic was not needed, I'm sure Ringplus benefited by the hysteria. Perhaps they aren't closing the loophole so tight or so soon. Sprint is playing nice with R+ for awhile longer. Time to dig through my pile of phones.
