Cuisinart MCP-12N multiclad pro 12 piece cookware set is one of the highest rated stainless steel cookware sets on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Cuisinart-M...009JXPS6U/. They often get compared to much higher priced all-clad pans. According to the 3 camels this set has never dropped below $200 on Amazon. It's is currently priced at $220. It is also "on sale" at Macy's for $300 (http://www.macys.com/shop/product...oryID=7552).

My local BJs has this set for $150 right now (with clipless coupon which is valid until May 18, according to the website http://www.bjs.com/cuisinart-mult...uct.285528) These sets are sold out online, so brick and mortar deal only, but my local store had plenty of sets sitting around.

BTW - camel doesn't show the limited time (daily deals, etc) for Amazon sometimes, and this set has dipped down under $200 a few times. Also, the Woot deal for $165 shipped was one of the lowest priced most widely available deals. However, the "lowest" priced deal historically was the Macy's deal for $127. It was YMMV though.

Got one today immediately after reading the post, thanks. The pans are nice and heavy and seem to work great with my new induction cooktop.

Thanks for the great reply. $127 at Macy's was a killer deal for sure. At $150 it was good enough for me to buy a set for myself, and two more to put away as Christmas gifts for my (early 20s) daughters. I think they will like it. Smilie

BJs really is all over the east coast from Florida to Maine, and if other stores are stocked like my local BJs this deal should be easy to get in on if you have a BJs near you.

Look at a map of their locations, and you will see how really very limited it is Wink
Agree that anyone considering stainless cookware "sets" and needing to spend less than $200 should jump on this if they have a BJ's anywhere close.
Makes folks look pretty nuts for buying that T-Fal Ultimate 13-pc set the other day for $119, unless on a very limited budget.

Some of the reviews on Amazon suggesting these aren't 18/10 steel but some cheaper variant. Also some customers showing pitting and rusting in their pics. For $150 it might still be worth it but the Tramontina set from Walmart may be a little less risky. The more I look into this stuff the more All Clad seems worth the price...

I have had this exact set for 3+ years now and I love it (got mine from costco for around $170 - this is a great deal). No pitting or rusting at all (but I always handwash mine). They clean up super easy for for the really dirty stuff, a little Barkeepers Friend takes care of it.

I have a Gas cooktop and these perform flawlessly. They heat up quick, heat evenly, and you don't need them much beyond medium/medium high even for a good sear. I can even cook eggs, rice, etc and they clean up nice without too much sticking. Bonus - these go from stovetop to oven and back with ease, I do this all the time with meats.

From what I understand from the reviews, the inside layer is 18/10 stainless, but the outside layer is 18/0, which is magnetized stainless steel. This is not a cost cutting measure, but done to make this set work on an induction cook top. The reviews say that all-clad does the same thing.

Pitting happens when salt is left. Something to do with the chloride part of salt interacting with the steel. All stainless steel seems to have this issue (physics)

I've had this set two days, so I'm certainly not an expert on rust and pitting after many uses, and the Walmart set is also very well regarded.

1 pan rusted after 1 day, another pitted, etc.....you get what you pay for. Frown
