Best price I have ever seen for it.

Been waiting for a while for my camel alert for one of these.

bought this jan 2015 for $143. awesome machine. highly recommended for those who are so inclined to buy a space hogging machine :-)

Notes:

1) clean it out religiously after every use. nothing worse than rancid oil smell.
a) best time is right after it's popped a batch. pour some vinegar into the hot kettle and let it sit for a bit, scrub it while still hot. then hit it with some baking soda to neutralize the acid and scrub again till clean. hot pot is much easier to clean than a caked on cold one.

2) keep warm feature isn't very useful.

3) you'll want to go out and buy a 50lb bag of popcorn from sams club...don't (pests will appear-i think some are inside the corn/bag already). even with a large birthday party, you'll use 5 lbs of popcorn at a max. popcorn shouldn't be stored in freezer or fridge like we initially did (lot of duds from moisture removed from the kernals) just keep a few lbs on hand for occassional use. don't use a dessicant in the storage tin...to kill grain moths/eggs that may be hiding, you can ziplock in gallon storage and freeze for 48 hours, then take back out. because of freezer burn and popcorn needing moisture in the kernal to pop, don't store kernals in the freezer.

Yep, if I didn't already own one (it's awesome IMO) that I bought at the prior all time low of 143.00, I wouldn't hesitate to jump at this now all time low price!

Got mine for like 60 bucks 2 months ago through amazon warehouse. It was brand new but the box was beat-up. The popcorn maker is good quality. Anyone know of any decent, yet inexpensive stands that will fit this?

Got mine for $32 from AWD Big Grin

Small dent on the top, but it's in the back. Also the bulb was broken and there was glass everywhere inside it.

don't soak it in vinegar tho, it will turn the kettle black if left on too long.

righto. i edited my original post. i never wait until the pot cools, it's usually just a few minutes tops, scrub and hit it with baking soda, scrub more and wash out.

8 oz seems quite large for a small household. How hard is cleaning?

I don't need this, but i bit. I have a small home theater and my kids love popcorn. Any recommendations on good pre-packaged popcorn for this?

Is it more of a pain then most things? yes,But it is not really that hard and fresh popcorn is
tasty. I have a different brand that I was gifted. I vacuum out the large pieces/kernels, wipe it
down with a wash rag, Pots come out for rinsing with soap and water. There is sort of of layer
of carbon that can build up in the kettle bottom. If that happens / gets bad may need to buy
some "kettle clean".supposed to take that stuff right out.

Most annoying thing about them compared to the small bowl and hot air poppers is they do take up space when not in use so consider where your going to put it when not in use.
