Agreed. If I had free DIMM slots I would be all over this. I picked up the 2400 version of this when it was 109. Good to see DDR4 coming down in price and going mainstream woot

Just note that most of the faster DDR4 RAM isn't stable. All DDR4 RAM is default at 2133. Yes you can overclock but some of the testing I've done show that the X99 and Z170 platforms like stable memory and many of the XMP profiles cannot even be used on DDR4.

Anyway this is a steal - best price I've seen since Nov 15 so I picked up a couple of sets of the 32GB (2x16GB). I only own G.Skill memory (DDR3 and DDR4) and I've never had any problems. In fact my 2x8GB DDR4 G.Skill set XMP is 2400 but I was able to overclock them to 3000 without any stability problem. Exact set is G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) Model F4-2400C15D-16GVR Just increased voltage from 1.5 to 1.6V. However other sets I've tested such as Corsair and eVGA didn't even remain stable with their XMP profiles on.

On top of that G.Skill has great support. I've bought memory sticks and microSD cards from them - had some issues with the microSD cards and they advanced RMA'd the parts without me even asking them to. That's great service.

I been out of the loop for a while, but is there any real reason to OC memory? For a regular user, gamer, or 3D graphic professional?

Im not sure I understand what you mean by the faster ram is not stable? Do you mean the high end stuff over 2400?

Does a case latency (CL) of 16 have any noticeable slower performance than that of a ram with CL of 12?

interesting to see ddr4 cheaper than ddr3... not much reason to buy more than 16gb worth yet... still need to see mb graphics cards and chips DRoP in price...

how's g skills compare to corsair vengeance ? I have never own that brand... also if I were to use higher mhz on a MB that maxed at 1600, will it be ok ? I need some ddr3 that fits under hyper 212

Yes exactly. Motherboards would reset back to default profiles during post boot or the OS would be unstable - reboot and found it to be higher clock speeds are the problem. Set BIOS to default value of memory (all of them are at 2133) and no problems at all. At this point not even sure spending more $$ on faster DDR4 for the headache of having to deal with stability issues.

It has to do with which company you would rather spend your $$ with. I like G.Skill just because I had recommendations years ago to try them from one of my work clients and since then I've been a huge fan for their customer service / tech support. I didn't like Corsair support as much because they refer you to an online form to submit issues and you hope they will get back to you within 48 hours.

You can use any RAM that's faster than 1600 on a motherboard - it will only set them at 1600 on DDR3. Do not buy DDR3L - if your motherboard only supports DDR3.

What's the lowest price for any good ram lately ? I'm not in a hurry but want the best deal for 2x8gb ddr3 1600mhz or higher

seems like all the good deals happens on Newegg and CA tax always kills the deal.. Wish Tiger direct was still around to match the deal with tax free.. sigh
