We got one from our wedding registry - used it twice, came out great each time. Bulky item if you don't use it often enough to justify the storage, but definitely a great price. You freeze the "bowl" inside the unit (removable), so don't be expecting to make anything immediately after you open - it needs a few hours to chill fully.

These are great if you have space in the freezer. But frankly, buying ice cream on sale in a supermarket is much more economical imo.

Would be fun to have just like many many other mini appliances, but not now.

Seems unlikely compared to premium ice cream. The junk brands with 50 ingredients to make vanilla...probably true.

How does it compare to the one that Google Express (Costco) has for $35?

Some people, like myself, might prefer this color and willing to pay more for it.

Thanks OP

We have their older unit and it does make good ice cream. It is fun to make and can be a good family evening activity. My only problem with ours was the bowl. The bowl needs to be frozen in the freezer long before you decide to use it. So it basically needs to be in your freezer all the time to be able to make ice cream when you desire. It takes 4+ hours to get cold enough to be useful, and really, you should have it in the freezer for at least 6-8 hours to be able to get a good result. So you have to leave it. It's bulky and takes up space, so it's a real issue for our family as we do like to use the ice cream maker, but we need that freezer space most of the time, so we often can't use it when the inspiration hits.

That said, a bit of planning and it will make good ice cream.

Another trick I learned was to fill as much freezer space as possible to keep the temp of the bowl low. I usually fill the freezer with bags of ice the night before I intend to make ice cream.

I have always wondered about other alternatives for quickly freezing the bowl. Dry ice, etc.
