$79...why not try it? Return it if it doesn't work for you. Then you can go and spend $10,000 on a bike like the curly mustache people in this thread are telling you to do.

I bought it last month same price. I would rate it 7/10
1. cheap materials
2. heavy
3. riding is not smooth
Lotta hipsters in this thread...

I just need a beater bike for commuting in NY, how would this hold up?

I wouldn't recommend a cruiser for commuting. You definitely want something with adjustable gears.

Picture shows a rear derailleur, so I assume it had gears. Price is ridiculous...I'd be concerned about it falling apart fairly quickly.

You're absolutely right. Apparently it's a 7 speed cruiser. Still wouldn't buy it for daily use.

Um, why? I wouldn't do more than ride around the block or a local park with one of these, maybe run quick errands of up to a mile on side streets where you don't mind if it gets stolen and can walk back if it does. At this price it's GUARANTEED to be an unsafe piece of junk that's rated at under 50 miles a year tops. If you want to bike regularly, you need to spend at least $300-$400 for something worth owning and riding. Lighter, faster, stronger, more fun, safer. I doubt you can get a decent used bike for this much, unless it's stolen.

I'll put it this way. Don't bother locking it. No one will steal it. And it absolutely will not hold up to NYC streets. You really want to risk permanent spinal or brain injury because the down tube or fork snapped while hitting a pothole? If your insurance policy finds out that you're riding it, they'll triple your rates.

maybe for a block or two in williamsburg

I would try renting a citi bike and see how you like a cruiser style bike. Definitely not recommended for commutes and city streets. It's a good investment to get a decent bike for commutes. Park overnight

NY craigslist is worth looking into, i remember getting a fully assembled fixie for $300 ish, rode it everywhere in the city!

Cheap walmart bike, ready for you guys to ride once at the park, then leave it outside for it to rust before you throw it away.

Wait, I thought 7 speed or what ever translates to "gears", No?
What, is there something that I've been missing in life?
