For those of you wanting instant pot this one is 5qt model. I think at least 6 qts will do for a pressure cooker since you cant fill it up all the way so passing on this.

Regardless the yogurt function, I have been using 6QT one for a while.... Never regret about it! Best investment for the kitchen

you can brown in it but don't think this would work as deep fryer

you can use the saute mode to fry but wouldn't be safe to fry stuff with too much oil in it.

What are these used for exactly? I've heard people using them to cook rice and dry beans quicker, but it sounds like one can prepare whole dinners using this?

It can be done; but it's a little tricky to get all the ingredients cooked together without overcooking some. I use it frequently for pork shoulder. I can cook 3-4 lbs of shoulder in under 30 minutes...same for a whole chicken. The flavors and juices are all captured, so it's quite different from roasting. We make a fantastic soup/stew with ground beef/pork, cabbage, spinach, kale and tomatoes ....really tasty!

Interesting, I might think about getting one of these then. Sounds like it could be helpful being a single parent with two boys.

Fantastic product. I have one for four years and still use it every week. You definitely want to pay more to get the 6QT version though. Quick tip: buy an additional seal - use one for food that smells and the other for food that does not.

By far the best kitchen appliance that we own. I guarantee we use it at least 2X a week or more. It makes the most incredible BBQ pork loin ribs in less than 30 minutes.
