No HDMI input.
FYI - Not mountable. Does it really take that much more to make monitor's mountable - I don't understand why they don't come with that option.

so you'll buy the same monitor from their ultrasharp line with VESA mounting, adjustable height, professional color calibration for 3x more.

to be fair, there's a bunch of other features (displayport, hdmi ml, usb hub) but my point is probably not worth 2-3x more. that's why pick them up from dell outlet with coupon.

Hdmi = dvi + audio

Get an adapter and there will be no loss in quality

The lack of VESA and HDMI make it undesirable for me but a great price for those that don't need those features.

You can get HDMI to DVI adapter fairly cheap.

Glossy Screen finish is a deal breaker for me

No VESA is so impractical. Who wants two monitor stands on a desk? I have limited space and need to wall mount.

These are great monitors for the price. Last year I picked up 2 for a "net price" of <$100, but this was "after Dell GC" deals and we know those are a pain as is often lamented on these boards. So being able to pick one up at BB for $99 is great IMHO.

Yes, the lack of VESA mounting limits it for some uses. Some other brands (Samsung in particular) have this same limitation in many models. It allows the monitor back to be sleeker and thinner (don't need to have it thickened and re-inforced with 4 screw tap points). But, yes, if you need to use a separate mount, avoid this model.

As it is, the monitor body is extremely thin and light (partly due to no VESA mount) but it seems well-built and durable.

The HDMI is really a non-issue. As many have mentioned, you can get adapters (you may already have some handy that might have come with previous monitors or video cards). Or, you can buy an integrated cable with DVI on one end and HDMI on the other -- prices range from $4-6 from monoprice (6ft model shown as example [monoprice.com]). I actually prefer the integrated cables but there's no problem with adapters -- it's a digital signal and the format is the same between HDMI and DVI, so as mentioned, there is no loss in quality.

This model does not have speakers, but in general small monitor speakers suck anyway and you'd probably either use external speakers or headphones from your computers, so to me this isn't a big deal (and it's one reason HDMI is not really important on this, since there is no audio input needed). Since there are no cheezy speakers, it's thinner and lighter, which I like.

Highly recommended if you want a budget 23" IPS monitor -- yes, it makes a difference and you usually won't be able to touch one for this price. (barring promo GC deals and crap like that..)
