Anyone have an idea when these will be getting the Skylake updates? Word is that the Surface Book will be updating to Kaby Lake (7th gen) this year.

There are rumors for completely redesigned thinner 13" & 15" laptops to be announced at WWDC in June for a July-September release. Some say these are Macbook Airs... others say these are Macbooks and that the Air line will be discontinued. Either way, it's advisable to wait if you're in the market for an Apple 13" ultra portable.

I'd tend to agree, but the laptops appeal to different people. While the Razer Blade Stealth indeed has superior components, the overall look (while sleek), in my opinion, appeals largely to enthusiasts and gamers. If you're looking at a long-term investment, design language is very important. That said, the Stealth is certainly enticing. However, I'm personally looking for a more sophisticated, low profile machine I can use for classroom use. To each their own. I hope Best Buy offers an 8GB model at 749.99 soon. I'd pull the trigger, certainly.

Yeah, listen, if I had to suffer through using windows, I will be getting a real gaming PC with a GTX 980m GPU. Otherwise, if I am not looking for a gaming PC, I will be placing my trust in a MacBook Air, like the one that I have had for 4 years with ZERO problems and running just as fast as the day I got it.

Speaking of problems, I DO have a i7-6700HQ / GTX 980m gaming laptop and the thing decided to give me 2 BSOD (it does look nicer now in Win 10 though) due to driver issues before deciding to crap out on me requiring in home service. I actually used my MacBook to look up the order number for customer service.

I my opinion, you would be spending a little less for a FAR SUPERIOR MacBook.

I had the 4gb air and then got the 8gb pro. For what I use it for, I saw no big improvement. I wasn't editing 4K etc. Just browsing, ripping Blu Rays, etc. I was running Windows on boot camp on both. I only upgraded from air to pro because the very poor screen on the air. I've come to realize that even with all its flaws, I'm a Windows guy. Just ordered the i5 surface pro 4. I could never get used to apple's OS after using Windows my entire life.

I had the same experience. I had the 2011 MBA for about a year and then tried the latest MBP 13. I just didn't like the OSX experience and ended up selling or returning them. My desktop runs Windows which does all the heavy lifting and gaming so it was just easier to transfer files in and between Windows PCs. Hardware wise Apple really nails it though, no complaints on that front. Most PC makers have at least improved their hardware to make the experience much better but Apple still has the best overall package.

I have an 8 year old Windows PC that I've had zero problems and still runs as fast as the day I built it.

I have a 2014 Macbook Pro that freezes constantly & the genius bar can't figure out what's wrong. They wouldn't give me a new one either (Yea I have Apple Care)...I have TWO Windows machines with LOWER specs than the Mac and have had ZERO problems...Superior is all relative my friend!

If apple is ging to release new Macbooks with better spce's definitely they are going to be improved & refined spec's wise...But they are going to be Expensive also with atleast $1299+ tag...In electronics, iPhone, android cell phones, Never buy Just/latest released products unless its very much essential. This is the truth I learnt hard way.

I honestly dont understand why macs come with SSD's the OS does not take advantage at all of the extra performance. I have worked with quite a few hundred macs, and having a normal HD and a SSD gives identical performance when i have pros right next to each other. I guess its to make the specs look better on paper.
