They currently have this one [costco.com] for $27.99 at my local Costco: Kit contains: 8AA, 4AAA eneloop batteries, 2C and 2D spacers, a CC17 charger that charges each battery cell individually, and a handy storage case.
Not really the same set from costco. The set at costco comes with spacers and the case. A better set, imo, if u catch it on sale.

Bought this as much for the charger as the batteries. However, the batteries will be great.

IIRC this is the same set that Costco has for $24 from time to time.

I don't understand about the C & D spacers. Aren't the AA batteries too weak to be substituted for C & D batteries? D batteries are usually rated at 10,000 mAh to 20,000 mAh, while the AA batteries are a fraction of those, even these Eneloops. So to put these AA batteries into D spacers, aren't they too weak to provide sufficient power?
They provide sufficient power, just not long-lasting power. But at least they're rechargeable!

They have the same current (amps), the difference would just be less capacity. mAh = milliamps per hour. Can come in handy since not too many things use the larger capacity batteries (C and D). It's all a preference thing, I think.

That would be milliamp hours, not milliamps per hour. ;-)

I think I'd personally rather have the extra two AA batteries than that other stuff if we were even comparing these at the same price (or the Costco one at $1 cheaper). I miss the 8x AA + Charger at Costco for < $20 sales - those were great!
