Important Update to QuickBooks Desktop
Intuit has implemented an update for supported versions of QuickBooks Desktop to address a security vulnerability. This vulnerability has no impact on QuickBooks Desktop for Mac or QuickBooks Online, and is only a vulnerability if an unauthorized party has obtained a copy of your QuickBooks Desktop file or obtained access via malware, phishing, or a similar method.
According to our records, you are currently using an unsupported version of QuickBooks Desktop. Unsupported versions of QuickBooks Desktop do not receive software updates. If you store credit card information in QuickBooks Desktop, you may be concerned about Payment Card Industry Security Standards (PCI) standards Customers should be aware that PCI certification is not valid for unsupported versions of QuickBooks Desktop (2012 and earlier). For such customers, we strongly recommend that you upgrade to the latest supported version of QuickBooks Desktop.
Intuit want to make it possible for you to upgrade to the latest supported versions of QuickBooks Desktop (2016) so that you can be on a secure version that receives security updates. For a limited time, QuickBooks Pro, Premier, and Enterprise Desktop software will be available for 70% off the regular price. Click here to upgrade. We will not make this upgrade price available again.
Intuit does not conduct exhaustive testing on unsupported products, and, as a result, may not provide customers using unsupported products with updates or notifications related to future security issues. Intuit encourages all customers using unsupported products to take advantage of this one-time offer to upgrade to the most recent supported version of QuickBooks Desktop.
Once you purchase and install QuickBooks 2016, you will immediately receive the key security update. Key things that customers need to know about the update include the following:
The update includes new password controls to verify that the person attempting to access the account is authorized.
All users who have the "Credit Card Protection" feature on, or have credit card data in their QuickBooks Desktop company file, will be asked to set up a password.
The administrator account holder will be notified if users have not set up a password. This will give the administrator account holder the ability to recommend that users create a password, or to assign a password directly to those users. This will enable you to increase security by requiring that all users with access to the system use appropriate security credentials.
Customers using QuickBooks Desktop in multi-user mode will need to ensure that all users are on a supported version of QuickBooks desktop and have installed the security update.
At Intuit, we are committed to making it as easy as possible to upgrade to a supported version of QuickBooks Desktop so that your data is secure.
