This is an excellent receiver and IMHO, one of the best AVR's deals out there.

I have been shopping for the last 3 weeks and have tried out every deal I've been able to get a hold of - Denon x3200, x4200, Pioneer SC-91,SC-95 and have messed with my brothers Onkyo RZ900. All great with pluses/minuses. For my simple 5.1 system(poor room), I would have kept this x3200 if not for lucking out on an open box SC91 for less that has some audio options I prefer (the x3200 I found a bit better for video and ease of set-up/use).

Right on cue...said it 2 weeks ago when 2200w was on sale for $400-$500 that this wouldn't be far behind...last year this time the 3100w was $499

Good deal...

So... can you predict when 4200w will go on sale?

Looks like x4200w goes on sale at Fry's periodically too according to slickdeals. Last promo was in Fry's email from last Sunday. I predict we will see another sale in 2-4 weeks. I just picked and installed my 4200w yesterday. Trying to decide between 3200w and 4200w.

It's been on sale since last Sunday with the 5/15 discount code. I think it goes off sale tomorrow (Saturday). I ordered one for shipping early this morning for $897 shipped.

Note: To actually complete check out I ended up opening a new incognito Chrome tab and entered the (personalized?) 5/15 discount code that came from the top of the 5/15 frys email. I also had to fix a problem with my frys account profile in advance and had to contact my CC company to confirm the purchase wasn't fraud... Hopefully the x4200w was worth the trouble.

If anyone has trouble with the code, try to call... they show it in stock at various stores in CA and TX.

The 4200w is on sale now from 5/15 - 5/21? with the sunday 5/15 email code.

Here is the SD thread.

See reply above for the issue I had initially with checkout.

I had the same debate between the x3200w vs x4200x. I ended up choosing the 4200w for the Audyssey MultEQ XT32 and the fact that I'm coming from an older 140w/channel Onkyo but am not quite ready for a component amp purchase.

Thank you for that information.

From what I can tell, the biggest difference between 4200w and 3200w is additional power output, improved room auto correction, and a 32bit DAC in 4200w, Others more knowledgeable can comment if I missed anything. It's a pretty close call. I suspect you won't go wrong with either of these models.
