Be aware that this is for 15#of gas not the full 20# you get elsewhere. So tank is only 3/4 full to start with.

In an attempt to pre-empt many negative comments as seen in the last thread I would like to add:

Despite the old rumors, these tanks can be refilled at your local propane supplier, gas station, Costco, Tractor Supply, U-Haul, etc.

Local refills can often be cheaper per pound of propane, but may not be as convenient as exchanges. And for some of us, local propane prices are high and exchanges like this are the cheapest option.

Great if you have a tank that is about to expire.

What are you planning on using this for if you don't currently have a propane tank?

Well hopefully you are a Costco member and have one close by. Buy a new tank from them for $30, the ones they sell come with a gauge. Then take it outside and have them fill it for ~$9. If you aren't a member then I don't know of any other "slick" option, maybe Sam's club or BJ's has similar prices or setups.

Easiest: Pay the $30ish surcharge and get a Blue Rhino at Lowes without an exchange.

Most Slickdealiest: Look on Craigslist or garage sales and buy someone's old beat up tank for $5-10 and exchange it at Lowes.

Not to thread-crap, but just an FYI: Our local (Connecticut) BJ's charges $11.49 for a FULL 20 pound refill (a buck or two more for non-members. An empty American made Worthington tank w/gauge runs about $25.
