It's also discounted at Samsung.com! LINK [samsung.com]

There are lots of people with $50 off codes for Samsung.com from the 4k TV price mistake cancellations!

But I am scared to buy it (not so much $80 on the hub itself but investing $$$ on all the peripherals) because of how flaky many reviews make it seem. I got the impression Samsung wanted to get in the home automation game as early as possible at any cost and so it was and still is really buggy.

I got one last week with the samsung $50 off. Anyone have a suggestion of what light bulbs work best with this? I tried the Cree Connected and couldn't get them to connect, so returning them. ( HD instore pick up, and oddly both were already opened and taped back up )
I also plan to use amazon echo integration if that matters.

edit: I was beat by JakDavenport.

Just an FYI for those that received the $50 coupon for the 4k Samsung TV pricing error last week, the hub is also 79$ on their website, which makes it 29$ plus $3.95 shipping. Not a bad price.

I stopped buying bulbs from home depot for that reason. I bought 20 some bulbs and over half were used. As far as lights I would go two ways:

If you are doing a few and it's just you, GE Link bulbs are great and go as low as 8$ on sale. If you are planning to do a lot of lights, I would buy normal LED bulbs and pick up GE smart dimmer switches. With the switches, you can turn it on and off from the switch or the phone. With the smart bulbs, they switch always needs to be on. If the switch is off for a long time, it's possible the bulb will desync with hub and you will have to reconnect it.

I did all smart bulbs and I am slowly changing them all out now.

If those TV hub stick things weren't free I might have jumped in this with my $50 coupon

Thanks, I was thinking of trying those. The lights I wanted to replace the bulbs on are actually plug-ins and not hard wired. Maybe 4 at the most.
I did get a dimmer switch for my track lighting in the family room which I'm going to try replacing today. I agree that's the best solution. Eventually we will replace all the lighting in this house with recessed. I hate not having ceiling lighting. lol

Samsung does not put money or support into this. They simply own it or a stake in it. Don't expect it to be backed by them as far as quality and customer service and most importantly reliability would reflect.
