Great to hit credit card promo spend requirements.
Target $400 Visa GC [target.com]
Use offer code TGT4DN9P or TGTS2KN4 for the $5 off
NO Target GCs allowed for purchase-your order WILL BE cancelled.
It sometimes wants to charge tax, Incognito browser seems to bypass that.
Can attempt to combine with Cashback site, it's not a "Gift card" in my mind, nothing lost for trying!
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

Takes $5 off but I'm getting charged tax on the full amount (total after coupon comes to $434.08)... Maybe I'm out of the loop but do they normally charge tax on these?

Edit: charges tax on the mobile app but not on their website. Don't order through mobile app if you need this

As far as I know, these cards should not be charged sales tax.

I don't get taxed. I really don't think tax is applicable for gift cards.

Sometimes when you sign up for credit cards, they give you rewards or bonuses if you meet certain spending requirements. For instance, this Southwest / Chase Visa gives you 50,000 Southwest points (about 2 round-trip domestic flights) when you spend $2,000 in your first three months. Or this [now expired] MLB BankAmericard will give you $200 back if you spend $500 within your first 90 days.

So if you buy this Visa, you're 'spending' $500, even though you get it back on a prepaid card. Lots of times, those who play the game will use various means to 'cash out' the prepaid card to immediately turn the value back into cash. But of course, you can just use it on your regular, every day purchases until the balance is drained.

Some folks can even make a few bucks by utilizing a cash-back portal or purchasing it with a credit card that gives points, rewards, or cash-back.

This practice is often referred to as "churning", and there are some pretty big online communities dedicated to maximizing credit card rewards, etc. I don't have a deep understanding of all the ins-and-outs, but my 'main' credit card gives some mediocre rewards, and I usually buy these prepaid card deals when they pop up because the credit card points add up over time, and I can usually earn a free flight or two every year just by using my credit card.
