Welcome to my 1st deal post. Up for your consideration is what appears to be a fantastic deal on a Weber Summit S-670. As you may, or may not, know, it's nearly impossible to get any sort of discount on a Weber grill from an authorized dealer, especially during peak season. Yes, there are deals to be had on end-of-season and closeouts, but not on a current model during prime grilling season!

Here's the deal, hopefully if you are in the market for this grill you can replicate the deal I got. Now, I live in central NJ, but I work in NYC. I was at work looking at grills when I happened upon this deal at lowes.com. When I tried every other store in my surrounding area the price is $2499, which is the going price for this model at all authorized dealers.

The $1998 price for the S-670 will ONLY show at the 2 NYC stores, NOWHERE ELSE I tried worked. I ordered the grill from the NYC store and it was delivered to my house by my local store in NJ, fully assembled, ready to rock, batteries included!

Oh, and it gets better. The 10% off coupon worked as well. Price down to $1798 + tax. The cherry on top was the $60 cash-back from that e--rebate--place (you know!). Final price - $1738

Ok, it's alot to spend on a grill. I know that. I had been looking at the Summit S-470 at the time, which is a 4-burner grill, but I ended up with the top-of-the-line, 6-burner Weber for less than the price of an S-470. Cool

LINK ADDED (sorry!): http://www.lowes.com/pd_254167-50...&Ntt=s-670 - change store and enter zip code 10011 to see the $1998 price.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

Good price.

I have the S-620 (very similar to this model) and overall I like it a lot. My one complaint is that if you are just cooking for a small number of people its really overkill.....the grill takes a while to heat up vs a genesis or summit and takes up a huge chunk of patio space.

If you entertain a lot its a great option though. Plus everyone is always jelly when they see it.

great grill. I have a genesis and it is plenty big enough for most people and only costs about 700-800. can't really justify spending 2.5 times that much.

Great grill. Get ready for all the haters going to thumb you down because they cant replicate the deal, even though you gave them all the information and said YMMV. You will get 2499 at my store.

Then you will get the jokers that never owned a weber tell you it is too much and their char-broil is just as good and cost 199 LOL

I have the summit s-470 for the big parties and a spirit e-210 when it is just the 2 of us. And of course a kettle for charcoal.

Once you go weber you will never go back.

Serious question, why would you never go back, just curious whats better in Weber thats not available in other grill? Higher BTU? Better engineering? or just bragging right(like Apple products)?

It's a great deal if you are in the market, that's for sure. Good post.

For their lower end grills my favorite SD recommendation though is to just shop Craigslist till you get what you want. That's not going to typically work for a newer Summit series very often though. It took me a while but I'm happy with my setup now. I originally got a late 90s genesis platinum NG for $10. I then spotted a 2011 NG S330 for $350. Bought that and sold my old genesis for $150. Then found the island grill cabinets for mine from another seller for $130. So my whole setup cost me $340 - but it took me about 6 months to put the deal together.

I actually realized that only the LP version is on sale. Kinda kills the deal for me personally. I can't imagine spending $2k on a grill to have to huff propane tanks around (and this grill will burn some propane).

I grill a ton and my weber s-330 is very consistent. I haven't used any of the other higher end brands but I'd never buy anything less than a weber. I use mine a lot and it is only 2 years old and I already want to upgrade to the 670.

Serious answer. It is definitely not the bragging rights of owning the grill, but the bragging rights on the food you cook.

Reasons why Weber is better:

Better construction and better warranty. Hands down one of the best customer service company, they stand behind their product with a great warranty and honor it no questions asked. My igniter went on the e-210 about 1.5-2 years old. Called them and they sent the whole entire assembly Fed-Ex no charge.

Better grates for grill marks and not rusting out. I hate cooking on rust. Folks I know with Char-broils put foil down or buy new grates every year.

Better at holding a consistent temp. If you get into grilling anything other than hot dogs and hamburgers, you will need to cook indirect. I have cooked a turkey on mine and it holds 350 degrees for hours and I don't need to constantly check it.

I am sure there are other reasons but it comes down to the food cooks better and tastes better since it is cooked evenly.

I had char-broils before but they only lasted 3 years max. My first Weber was over 10 years old and I only lost it to hurricane sandy.

From my limited experience Weber grills tend to heat very evenly. Kind of like having a cheap frying pan vs a really expensive one; they will both cook but one will leave you with food that is cooked lopsided whereas the other one will cook evenly.
