Crystalwell is not a official microarchitecture. This Macbook is using the Haswell family, Intel 4000 series processors. The latest and greatest is Skylake, Intel 6000 series.

so while this Macbook is now two generations behind in terms of processor microarchitecture, it is the latest and greatest on a 15" MBP

This comment makes it sound like this is an older version but just to clarify, Apple has not released Skylake Macbook Pros yet. It's assumed that Apple will release them later this summer or even 4th quarter depending on what rumors you read.

Nevermind...the original post is pretty clear...says the same thing. Carry on.

Looks like Apple has these on their refurb site for $1699 + tax...somebody confirm this is the same one please:

Can I purchase Apple Care from Apple in conjunction with this purchase through eBay, or would I have to purchase the 3rd-Party extended warranty?

"2 yr warranty + accidents $289.99 from SquareTrade"

Sadly it is the latest you can buy now, but there may be a release soon or sometime late this year with skylake.
