Really like my 4 person and 6 person kodiak canvas tents. It looks like this 2 person model and the 1 person bivvy, are brand new and I can't really find any information or reviews online. The only source of info is directly on kodiak canvas's website.

could you tell how do these compare to your standard coleman tents or even something like a REI Kingdom?

Whole different beast.

These use steel poles, heavy waterproof canvas, and are staked to the ground (not free standing). The 2 person model weighs 30.5 lbs. The 4 person models weighs 54.5 lbs. The 6 person model weighs 68 lbs. These are not lighweight backpacking tents.

These are strictly for car camping.

They also use steel tubing for the frame poles and spring steel to keep roof tension. They are single walled, so no need for a rain fly. The canvas stays cooler in the sun and warmer in the cold. Basically better than nylon in every way except for weight (and you can't store them wet, or it'll mildew).

Bonus - they will withstand 40-50 mph winds, and yes there are videos on youtube. They are gnarly and awesome. You can stand straight up and walk around in the 4 person model. The 2 person model listed here has a shorter roof height.

They might be overkill for the majority of "campers" but man are they sweet. I just ordered the 2 person model from this cabela deal. I've been a big fan of my 4 and 6 person models as well. There's no real rational reason to have 3 of these things other than I want them. They are the cadillac of tents. They will outlive you.

I'm torn. I really want the 4 or 6 person tent for the standing height but this is such a great deal. I can't really afford both at the moment. Do you think the standing height will make that much of a difference? I'll be camping in this with 2 people max at a time.

I'll be honest. I really like being able to stand up in my 4 person tent. I wouldn't consider it a deal breaker though for a smaller foot print and lighter weight.

Remember, a 2 person tent is literally just 2 people. I've used my 4 person kodiak for 2 people, 2 dogs, and our bags. I would use the 2 person tent for just me and gear.

Cool. Thanks for the feedback.

Doesn't 48" seem a bit low though?
