nice deals for a very good router. I've tried them all from a EA9500 to Eero and the apple ones are still kind in my humble opinion.
just find it silly to call these refurbished. there is nothing to refurbish on these models except erasing the hard drive and wiping it down. there is zero chance best buy employees have opened this up and done any inspection.

Have one and love it. The most solid router I've owned thus far. Very rarely needs to be rebooted and does a great job backing up my Mac on a daily basis.

I have the ASUS RT-AC68U.
Would I benefit from going to this?

My only reason for considering that is that the Wifi AC portion keeps dropping every 2-3 days.. The N works fine, but the AC just disappears. I have to unplug the router and plug it back in and it works fine again...

try checking the firmware and downgrade perhaps if it's reported as being more stable. this was the case with our net gear ac1900, we downgraded and everything works all the time now instead of dropping out every several hours (for a couple seconds)

I've used both heavily, and the AC68U (AC68R in my case) is actually more stable than the incredibly stable AirPort Extreme, and it has extra features to boot. I installed Merlin on it (simple upload file and click upgrade), and I use it to broadcast my Verizon jetpack via USB tethering over WiFi, while also signing into my Pritunl VPN, so Verizon can't throttle YouTube/Google traffic. It works incredibly well.

TL;DR - with a properly working AC68U, you'd gain nothing and possibly lose things switching to the Time Capsule / AirPort Extreme.

Thanks for the feedback.. I guess I will stick to the AC68U. Besides its $154 not spent.. It would go to some other cool stuff I don't need... CoolCool

As a comparison, I want to say the refurbished ones directly from Apple are $179. Great price, but I wouldn't trust anything refurbished from Geek Squad. The Apple ones have a year warranty, doubt you will need it though.

"The item is used and was fully tested by our professionals and is fully functional."

So in other words "recertified", not refurbished. You've got a drive that's been running up to 3 years and a 3 year old power supply.

anyone got a lead on just the router without HDD for a decent price. even "seller refurbished" (which is code for used) is OK, if it's under $100…

edit: $50-$60 at this point would make me pull the trigger. I smell a refresh this fall with all of these 3 y.o. being unloaded @<1/2 new price now

Yes, if you buy one within a year of buying a Mac that has Applecatr, coverage would be the same as that Mac, up to three years.
