Thread Details

Welcome to the overflow forum for discussing our many YMMV Walmart deals, to include TVs, pressure washers, computers, hard drives, etc., etc.

There was a lot of interest from SD members to create this thread so that we could discuss things that may or may not have been directly related to the specific deal post that was originally posted. This thread would be a more appropriate location to discuss search methods, scripting and automated processes, sharing deals with each other, best methods to successfully replicate deals, and much more. We should try to keep the deal discussions limited to Walmart but I'm sure that on occasion we might find another deal or two from another retailer that might be related to a Walmart item that we've been discussing.

This thread is NOT for the lazy members to come in and ask the same FAQ that are already answered in the comments of another thread. If you don't know the basics already, this thread isn't for you. Here are some examples of questions that should not be asked or answered in this forum:
"How do I find the item number to use for brickseek?"
"What if the brickseek price and the walmart.com price are different?"
"Why does it show full price when I add the item on walmart.com to my cart?"
"How can I get my local walmart to price match that lower price?"

Also, I can/will update the original post with anything deemed worthy.

Welcome to the discussion! Post a comment to introduce yourself to the thread and subscribe to it and we'll get things going quickly I'm sure. wave

Hi, i'm from South Arkansas and really loving the original post. Grab 7 TVs still going for more. ATM i'm trying to figure out how brickseek pulls its info. I think I have part of a clue but not sure. I don't think they are using Walmarts open API though.

Nice to be a part of this post. Hopefully we get some people here that are knowledgeable and not lazy. The other post has really gotten annoying with the people who don't even read the wiki asking dumb questions.

I agree, I thought that I had read somewhere that they use the Walmart inventory API but they've modified their own API off of it. I'll have to see if I can find that somewhere again.

Hi Guys! I have some new clearance goodies that I found yesterday. I'll pass them along shortly.

Also on Brickseek up til yesterday I was seeing great success with it's accuracy between two of my stores. However yesterday I found multiple items that I took note of to look up that Brickseek showed zero inventory on or said this item was not carried in that particular store. My theory on that at the moment is that the items I discovered are officially "deleted" however not all had the usual yellow deleted inventory tag. In the past I have been able to find deleted products on Brickseek, so my thought is that after so long they fall off even though the store may have stock. Thoughts, experiences?

How are you finding new clearance items? Also does brickseek find them itself or is it user submitted items?

Cashier said he just bought one for $124 or something. Was upset I was buying both.

When I go to Walmart I take photos of certain clearance that stands out and I look it up later on at home. Generally this is clearance that is behind the majority of other stores, however it's easy for me to catch the trend that these products are going down in price, more than likely as they have been deleted from the current mod.

Nice, that's lower than I had denoted on my electronics list. Lowest I had was $59. Congrats!

You must really hunt for deals at walmart all the time. Do you submit them to brickseeker or something?

I had went to walmart cause i found a $49 touchscreen all in one computer listed as 3 in stock at my walmart and brickseek also said they had 3. I went to the walmart and the associate gave me a hard time about wanting to find these for me. She admitted the handheld computer she had said they had 2 in the store, but could not locate them anywhere and insisted if there were in the store, they would be in the computer section. I made her go look in the back and she came back 5 min later saying they didnt have it. This has happened to me several times using brickseek in the past and i just found out today about walton. Is it possible the associates just TELL me they cant find it and then they buy it themselves after i leave? Frustrating to keep going looking for "in stock" items and not finding the items.

Any tips??

Go find a manager and give them the UPC. Let them assist you in finding the item.

John, you think thats really a good idea to bother a manager? I have thought about it and I did it once. I guess they are going to have questions why it shows inventory but it can't be found right?

I haven't really delt with managers on finding things but maybe in the future I should?

Do it. The managers know that if the issue has been escalated to them, your are likely to call corporate and complain if they can't resolve your problem.

I do. But it also often depends on what the item is that I'm looking for. For example, if there is only 1 60" TV on hand for $199, I probably wouldn't go too crazy about raising the issue to a manager because even they might buy the item for themselves. However, if I feel that a regular electronics associate is being less than honest to me about an item being in stock, I'll either go find the store manager or the assistant manager (preferably a salaried manager) and tell them that it says in stock and that I want to buy the item. More often than not they will assist with the search by figuring out exactly where the handheld says the item should be located and then either doing the search themselves or bringing an electronics associate with them to search. In my experience this is more of a corrective training action, similar to rubbing a dogs nose in poop when they're naughty, that they do to either correct employee laziness/selfishness or to improve their knowledge on how to find something in inventory. It's always YMMV but I've had good results when following this approach.
