Now through July 4th you can show your independence by ordering a made-in-America headphone amp kit that you build yourself.

Bottlehead will be transitioning to a universal power transformer in the upcoming Crack 1.1, but still has a quantity of 120VAC only Crack kits to offer before that happens. The Crack alone is normally $299, now at a special $249 price.

Further sweeten the deal you can add a Speedball upgrade kit (regularly $115) to your order for just $50. If you do the math that works out to ordering a Crack and getting the $115 Speedball kit add-on for free!

Shipping adds $15+ UPS most places.

This is one of the best OTL (amplifiers available for high impedance headphones (>250 ohms).

Perfect for those who bought the Sennheiser HD600 and HD650 in recent deals.

This is a DIY kit and requires assembly and basic soldering.

That's a really nice deal for an end game amp if you have the cans...and the willingness to put it together. I'm in for one with the speedball.

Great tube amp if you have a good soldering iron and a fair bit of patience. I would build one of these over a grand father clock any day.

How long would it take to put this including the Speedball upgrade together if I have no soldering experience? I assume several hours? Also how idiot-proof is the construction if I follow the tutorials? Is it possible that I can easily end up with a finished product that doesn't function perfectly? Thanks.

The crack build is fairly straight forward. The speedball is a bit more involved. I feel like it's a mid experience build if you want it presentable.
