According to some reviews on Amazon, this computer is essentially unupgradable. It has an empty memory slot, but no slot for video card (according to one review) and it uses a power brick instead of an internal PSU. So unless you can use it as is, there's no point in getting it for upgrading.

I should add, this is actually a nice deal for what it is. Not for upgrading though.

Can someone please recommend a website which shows possible upgrades, such as ram, processor, etc? Thank you

Guys, what's the difference between small desktops and regular sized desktops? Let's say they have identical specs, will there be any type of performance difference? How about longevity difference? Do the smaller ones cost less because they are less upgradeable (because of lack of space?).

They always seem cheaper and I've always been curious about that.

Rebate link is messed up. "City" is a dropdown and doesn't allow you to type anything. Can't submit unless fixed and it keeps giving me an error.

The City drop-down is automatically populated after you enter the zip code

Got it. That must have been changed recently because I've long been successfully using the same auto populate text from Chrome but it didn't work this time. Probably because of the extra 4 numbers in the zipe code format 12345-1234

The primary distinction in this space is between Ultra Small Form Factor (even though there are clearly smaller desktop boxes or there) and Small Form Factor.

USFF tends to be less like a compact desktop and more like a repurposed laptop. That tends to explain the lack of typical CPU and adapter card upgrade paths. You won't find PCIe card slots, or even a standard motherboard standoff pattern - often the case and board are highly integrated units.

The better middle ground are those Small Form Factor (SFF) systems whose standard components lens themselves to typical RAM, CPU, and storage upgrades. I've actually transplanted such systems from the limited confines of their OEM cases to larger confines which enable the use of larger power supplies and even full feature video cards (all of which can significantly extend their life).

In this case you've got an almost standard mini-ITX type system crammed within this box (standoffs and slots look normal, but the integrated front USB is unique). Your upgrade options within the existing power package would be limited to RAM, an SSD, or a limited subset of CPU choices and maybe a very low power, low profile graphics card. Move this all into a standard case (that physically accommodates the weird front USB connectors) and power supply and you could get a number of years out of this PC.

Good luck!

Jon

It actually has an internal power supply, but it's now TFX size instead of ATX. The ones with external power supply are with CPUs less than 10W. This one is 53W.

Actually I ordered via phone, got the order confirmation. I guess I will receive the invoice from Dell later.
