They are just shutting down the servers in Japan. Other countries are staying up.

You are right. I didn't know. I was actually waiting for Physical version to drop to $10 on Amazon or GameStop to purchase it. Now I don't know if I will even buy it. I can't believe they are discontinuing LBP3 Online so soon, I mean I can understand it for the other titles, but LBP3 is what? 1 - 1 and a half years old?

Just announced that they are discontinuing all online services for LittleBigPlanet 1, 2, 3 and Vita so if you want a platinum trophy do the online part before 7/31.

Yep less than 2 years. I was very surprised as well and disappointed. I had bought it for $10 @ Amazon not too long ago and I have such a huge backlog that I haven't played it.

I have only played each LBP game maybe 1 hour. I never had any more time to spend on them. Could you tell me what it means in terms of game play when they discontinue all online services for all LBP games?

Does that mean the game doesn't work at all or that you can't download user (community) levels any more but everything else works fine? If it just means no more user levels, is there a way to download them ahead of time?

AFAIK, all LBP games have an offline single player mode so I'm hoping this won't have a big impact on the LBP games if I ever get time to return to them. If LBP doesn't have offline single player mode, I wouldn't have bought them if I had known. Unfortunately this taking the servers offline phenomenon is going to happen more and more often, and it's the reason I try to avoid online multiplayer only games. I worry that someday Sony may cut off PS3 users from PSN or MS may cut off X360 users from XBL sometime in the future when they decide they don't want to spend the money to keep everything related to old consoles online. Cutting off online game servers is the easiest to do. I just hope there are enough old console users that neither company will dare to do it. I do know this... my console purchases have fallen off a cliff over the last few years and I mostly buy Steam now. AFAIK Steam hasn't taken anyone's games away yet. I know servers disappear, but that's not Steam's fault. I believe LBP is a Sony game, so this one is Sony's fault.

I bought 1/2/3 for the offline and local co-op game modes. That said though, a huge draw to LBP itself is content creation and sharing it with others. I guess the business model is no longer viable for Sony. I won't be surprised if all online game modes for all PS3 games are nixxed. We can't have people that are not PSN members play online now can we?

Is this game single player only or does it have offline co-op?
