MetroPCS [t-mobile.com]is launching two new promotions that'll be available starting tomorrow, July 7. First up, you can get up to $60 off any smartphone when you port your number over to MetroPCS. With that discount, there are nine phones that you can get for free, save for the sales tax. Looking at MetroPCS's website, the nine phones that would be free after this $60 discount include:

LG K7
Samsung Galaxy Core Prime
Samsung Galaxy On5
ZTE Avid Plus
Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL (Android) <--- 2GB RAM and 16GB Storage
HTC Desire 626s
ZTE Obsidian
Kyocera Hydro Wave
LG Leon LTE

The other new promo focusing on family plans. MetroPCS will let you add a line to your family plan for $25 per month and get 5GB of 4G LTE data when you already have a line on the 5GB/$50 or higher rate plans. So, 4 lines with 5GB each for $125 total vs. $180 (regular price)

All MetroPCS plans include taxes and fees.

Unlimited Music on plans $40 and up. No zero-rated video like BingeOn, but they do have a cheaper true unlimited plan $55/60.

first, i can add review that I been on metropcs 2 lines/6gb/$60 mo plan.

the service is superb. i don't ever feel i am getting 2nd tier performance. the lte is fast. I also like that its $60 tax, title, license. no bullshit taxes that easily can add $10/per line

the only thing i do not like is that i switch my phones alot. for that, i have to call 611 everytime i want to switch IMEI , rather its not automatic which is a pain

so with new plan, wouldn't 4 lines X $25= $100?

and can i switch to new promo, anyone know?

thanks

not true

i got 2 free phones and they made me use it for atleast 7 days so they can get their commision. otherwise you can infact call in 611 on day 2 and switch to your own device. maybe its the rep you got that gave you hard time

Service is pretty good. Good luck trying to resolve a Tier 1 issue, it took them two weeks to fix my text messaging after porting in.

I agree, they are gross if you want to switch to your own phone. These guys are the only GSM carriers that lock the IMEI to a phone number so you can't just switch phone whenever you like. You have to manually call in or if you are lucky to find a chat pop up window chat with them and give your IMEI number of your old phone. This is a pain in the ass especially when they have a long wait time to get connected with one of the reps.
Otherwise, great value. Uses Tmobile towers though which sucks. If you have one of their MetroPCS locked phones you have to get it unlocked after 3 months otherwise it won't even work with a tmobile SIM.

I was able to use my own 2 phones (byod) the next day after porting my numbers to Metropcs. I called customer service to program the imei of the 2 sims to my original phones. I get to keep the 2 free phones (LG K7 and Samsung Galaxy Core Prime) as backup.

Currently paying $27/mo, so with this plan I basically get a free crappier phone to pay $3 more per month. Do they still take $5 off for each additional person or is that only on non-data plans? This promotion only makes sense if you don't have wifi/ free wifi access because data caps are silly. Watch more than 10 minutes of streaming video per day and you're already exceeded 5gb plan. I'm still waiting for data plans to align with brexit's unlimited everything for $50 [broadbandchoices.co.uk] (24m contract though).

What phone did you try to use? I am using an unlocked ZTE Axon Pro on metroPCS, and had zero trouble getting it activated.

There is a $5 discount per line on additional lines. Metro also offers unlimted music on $40+ plans and has a truly unlimited data plan.

That happens a lot at independent dealers because they make commissions on certain sales. I prefer to do business at corporate stores (very few though). Easy to swap phones, so you just sell the free phone for a profit.

Metro has been great for me but Im in NYC where signal is great so guess just depends where you live, if Tmobile is good in your area Metro will be the same, free music streaming with $40 plan and data maximize which I believe is pretty much Binge on like Tmobile.
