Amazon reviews suggest this drive doesnt have heat issues
I don't know about this Samsung drive in particular, but from the research I did when buying a USB 3.0 thumbdrive, these tiny USB 3.0 drives tend to have severe issues with heat dissipation (due to the higher electricity running through USB 3.0 drives during 3.0 transfers). I think it was the tiny Sandisk drive in particular which was the poster child for that problem. I ended up purchasing the larger USB 3.0 128GB Sandisk Extreme Pro for under $60, and have been extremely satisfied with it's performance.

So for these tiny USB 3.0 drives, best advice I can give you is do a lot of research to see if there is a history of heating issues with the model you're planning on buying.
I have both Sandisk and Samsung. I had to go through RMA with Sandisk 5 times on 6 different flash memory while I had zero issues with Samsung.

Yes I did have a problem with one that was fried and became read only. Had to punch a hole in it to destroy.

I have been using both the Sandisk and this Samsung drive in my MacBook Air for the past couple of weeks. The Samsung does not have the heat issues of the Sandisk, as far as I can tell. I'm going to get another one of these to replace it.

Had sandisk and the samsung. Returned the sandisk because of how hot it got. Samsung gets warm but cools quickly. No warmer than a full size usb gets.
