Yeah, to match specs on this it's a $120 chip, a $50 Mobo, a $100 graphics card, and let's say $15 ram and $30 HDD. That's the same price without a case, psu or the steam controller.

You could probably throw together a budget box for a similar price - $50 Pentium CPU, $40 Mobo, a cheap-ish 950 for better graphics performance and 8GB ram and an SSD, but you won't get a good case like this one, or a warranty for the whole system either.

10 of THESE? 10 of these $300+ machines = 1 $3k PC a "few years ago"? C'mon man.

Pretty good price. I have 3 of these things (2 i3's and 1 i5) throughout my house and I absolutely frigging love them.

Why do you need 3 in a house if I may ask?

This is a good deal. I got the base alpha (i3) last year and upgraded to 16gb ram and a SSD (both super easy upgrades) and it is the fastest PC I've used. I use it for my desktop and have been for more than a year. Paid around this price and this one appears to have a better graphics card. I recommend.

Good little machine! I got it for $299 (+ 5.99 shipping) from Newegg a month ago when they had a promo. It can run Fallout 4, Rocket League, Portal 2 etc, on high settings with no issues whatsoever. It's amazing how they were able to fit it a decently powerful device in such a small size factor.
I installed Windows 8.1 on it, though. SteamOS does not support many of my games on Steam, unfortunately.

I imagine they are used instead of an Xbox or PlayStation. I have at least 10 recent model PCs around my house used for a variety of functions, from HTPC to exercise equipment interface. PCs are so cheap these days. You could get 10 of these for what one PC would have cost only a few years ago. So why not have several?

$352.79 for the Windows 10 version (same hardware), which has better game performance and a much larger library of games. Probably worth it if you don't already have a Windows license to spare.

I can't find where it lists specifically which GPU is in this machine.

I think this is the lowest price direct from Dell - they were around $330-$350 before, though that was the windows version. This one comes with a Steam Controller rather than an xbox 360 one as well.
