Amazon has Blue Buffalo Life Protection Dry Adult Dog Food Chicken & Brown Rice (30lb bag) on sale for $38.47 (30lb bag). $.01 higher than lowest price ever according to price trackers, and much cheaper than I've ever found it on sale in B&M stores.

Blue Buffalo is seriously slipping in recent years, multiple recalls in the past few months, stay the hell away if you care about your dog, read the comments below:

That's a pretty solid deal for a decent quality dog food. For a while, it was hard finding it for under $45 shipped. I had used up all the intro offers from places that sell subscriptions, and I got a little backed up near the end because new dog's eating habits were unknown to me.

FWIW, my last dog loved the stuff. My current dog did not care for it. She would go a couple days before eating (always healthy weight, though) and litter those "life protection bits" all over the floor around her bowl. I started buying Taste of the Wild for ~$50 a bag from Amazon, and she eats a lot more frequently now.

If your dog is eating junk dog food, having allergies, is aging and needs better nutrition, etc. give this a try. If it works, feel good about your choice. There are plenty of less healthy or more expensive choices out there. If it doesn't work, consider TOTW from Amazon as a similarly priced (but better quality) dog food.

I see it is $44.99 at petsmart, but aren't there usually ways to get an additional 20%+ off?

If you've adopted a dog recently, there's a coupon booklet offerred by both Petco and Petsmart that has discounts like that. You may also be thinking of chewy.com which has 20% off your first autoship order (and sends other additional % off coupons out periodically).

I used to pay $50+ a bag at Pet Smart, slightly less at Fleet Farm $48. $38 is a steal if your dogs like it.

I switched my dogs off BB, with all there ads and claims about being the best, in reality it's just marketing 101. My dogs got sick of the food, and barely ate the BB so I was wasting money on food they had no interest in.

I did research and compared other "natural" and premium foods and found Diamond Naturals ranked equal if not higher then BB on most lists, and even had less contrversial/questionable ingredients then blue buffalo, and it's only $28 a bag for 40lbs

I've thought about this and do feel safer with a brand like purina one...just from the economy of scale perspective...can't imagine blue buffalo with all their marketing has much left for long term research, let alone quality control.

If I had a Costco nearby I'd probably go with their brand. I think it's made by Diamond. Costco does this with all kinds of premium brands, like Starbucks. They say this is how much we will pay...and the manufacturers typically comply.

But it is funny how marketing works...look at all the comments. 90% of the people here think blue buffalo is safe and a good product and better than Iams, Pedigree, etc. Its already been said, but do your research and try to find multiple sites since chances are a typical review site is compromised.

Edit: also based on their life expectancy...I don't think your dog gives a damn about organic or not. Best thing you can ever do for your dog is never, ever give it "people food."

I used to feed my dog BB, changed to Fromm after their recent class action lawsuit settlement. Will never go back to BB again.
