They've been there the whole time. You just had to scroll to get to it.

Which of these apps are useful?

Do you have to have some number of Star rewards points to use this? I'm not a coffee drinker so I don't have any rewards points - just signed up for an account to see what apps were available - but I don't see the Pick of the Week on mine?

No they are not. I have been getting them every week for a year and the last major update - they changed the UI and it was gone for a while - with the last update I can see them again.

Allow me to clear up a few misunderstandings/miscommunication/misinformation...

1a. Every Tuesday, you will receive a message in your Starbucks app (nowhere else) containing your free "Pick of the Week."
1b. This begins as soon as you sign up for Starbucks Rewards AND download/login to the Starbucks app. It is not retroactive, so you won't receive any freebies from previous weeks. (Attached is a screenshot of my inbox to give you an example of what you can expect to see.)
2. You do NOT need any number of Stars or to be at any particular level in order to receive your Pick of the Week. All Starbucks Rewards members receive them.
3. You do NOT need to be connected to Starbucks WiFi. That Cult of Mac link is more than three years old, written when very little was known about the new change since it had not even happened yet. Your cellular network and any WiFi connection works.
4. dambargar, you are incorrect. The Pick of the Week messages have ALWAYS been there. You just had to know HOW to get to them—and you did not. The only thing they "added back" (referring to your title) is the word "Messages" on the app's main screen, which takes you directly to the inbox.
5. How to redeem:
Clicking on the "Download Now" button in the message takes you to the iTunes "Redeem" page, prompts you to log in, and automatically fills in the unique 12-character code. The final step is to tap "Redeem," and the following page will display a "thank you" message, your freebie's download status, and (if applicable) a couple other items from its developer.

If there's anything else you have questions about, please do ask. I'm all about paying it forward!

I've been seeing them after every update, in fact I've already gotten all of those apps every week. If they weren't there, you wouldn't be able to go back and get the old apps. If you uninstall the app for a couple weeks, you miss out on the apps posted during that time forever, so you must have just not seen them.

Thanks for clearing up. But the pick of the week section was for sure gone after v4.0 update (may be a bug) and in one of the last updates it was restored again. Just checked today and I was able to see it.

Again, it was there the entire time, just without any type of heading. You had to scroll through your receipts and the other ads they put in that section. It's never been gone, I update my apps constantly, and every Tuesday I (along with just about everyone else) was getting the free app. They have now just made it easier for the few that had trouble to see it now.
