Yes, and when this model came out it was this price for a new version at microsoft store. But unfortunately I missed out on it and the price hasn't been that low again in months. For someone looking to buy now, I think this is a good deal for a great compute stick. But for someone in no rush willing to wait a few months I expect eventually the price for a new unit will indeed drop to within $10.

Would this be decent enough for children who want to play games like Minecraft, Roblox, and Garry's Mod?

This has the same specs as Intel's 1st gen Compute stick and the 1st gen Compute Stick got horrible reviews. Microsoft sold the 1st gen Compute Stick for $50 brand new last Black Friday

So, can I add software to these sticks or is it just MS apps? Is there a way to add a remote?

Thanks

Can someone that has 1 please test this for me?

Plug a USB hub into the stick
Connect a wired mouse and wired keyboard to the USB hub
Connect a USB cable from the USB hub to a modem

Does everything, especially internet, work? Thanks

This is full on Windows 8 and upgradable to 10, nothing like crippled Android. Normal programs can be installed but since the specs are so low, you are limited on what can be installed and realistically used

Listing says Windows 10 Home.
If it were Win8, it would be too late for the free Win10 upgrade by the time this thing ships.

The reason why this is not really a deal is you can get a decent laptop for the same price or less.
