I'm not sure why, but I'm not much a fan of CRKT knives. I think it's partly because I handled one a couple years ago and it just felt cheap and not smooth opening at all. I much prefer Spyderco and Benchmade blades, but Kershaw ain't too bad.

Anyway, thanks for the deal!

So, this is Clayton Kershaw's family business.

got the brawler in prime day and have been really impressed with it thus far. it's a little bulky for EDC but it's still great for everyday use. the serrated edge is a nice addition as well.

i got it as well... sending it back. feels cheap... especially the handle. sticking with the blur in the future - but of course it's a bit bigger.

I'll be traveling on the AT for a week hiking. Which would you guys recommend to have as a trail knife?

It has a great grip, and it's very thick so I have yet to drop it when I am using it. I can open it with one hand very easily which is a big advantage since I often have one hand holding onto something, etc.

I've been tempted to try to get Kershaw's autograph on one of these knife handles. I'm pretty ignorant about such things and would have to see if any of their knives can be disassembled. I'm certainly not bringing a knife to camp, and especially not waving a knife around Clayton Kershaw. Ha!

I realize most of the time when these mention having a lock it is to lock the blade open but are there any of these with a lock to keep it closed so you don't accidentally open it up in a pocket etc?

Any of these knives will work just fine. I just picked up the brawler 1990 for $16 because it is a good knock around knife that will cut when you need it to. I would just get that. If you want a nice knife to use for years and want real quality skip these and pay a bit more for a Spyderco or Benchmade.

Have a good time on your hike!
