Thread Details

Brookstone now offers sitewide saving15% off promotion.

I was actually looking for a deal for Ring video doorbell. Original price is 199.99. After saving it's 169.99.

Shipping is 7.99. I see there is another promotion code for free shipping when the order total is over 99. However, it seems like you can only use one promotion code.

The final price before tax is 177.98.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

I wouldn't spend $178 on the Ring Video Doorbell when the new Pro version can be had for only a little bit more on eBay. If you don't want to buy from eBay then you can get the Pro version direct from Ring for $225 after $25 coupon. There are a bunch of the $25 coupon codes floating around online.

If you have a Costco membership, they have had the Ring doorbell + chime for $190+ tax. The chime is usually around $30 and allows others in the house to hear the doorbell. Otherwise it only rings on your phone. I think this is the Gen1 version but I'm happy with mine.

Hey Sam, I happen to have some of those codes your are talking about for both the Regular and Pro. If you would like one, please let me know. Thanks!
Thanks please PM me one. I need to test the wires on my current doorbell to confirm that they have enough power to support the Pro model.

put a couple of these up, no matter what I try the video is choppy and live feed either fails or takes forever to connect. Ive ever bought wifi extenders to no avail. expect to see mainly butts, not faces, as people walk away, especially with the non pro model

Sorry for the late reply. According Ring's website the Pro can only replace an existing hardwired doorbell and does not have a rechargeable battery like the original model. The Pro requires a doorbell transformer with 16-24 VAC and the original requires 8-24 VAC so I'm going to test my wires to make sure they have at least 16 VAC. Scroll down to the comparison chart on the following FAQ page to see the spec differences between the original and the pro.

From the chart it sounds like the non pro is better. Who cares about 1080p vs 720p, I am not watching a movie. Original has wider viewing angle and battery flexibility.

What am I missing?

It sounds like you do not have at least one megabit of upload and If you used an extender that can cut your bandwidth in half.

The pro is sleeker looking. I have the non pro and the "720p" video quality is awful (poor colors, grainy, zaggies) compared to my Nest Cam which I have set to 720p.

The app can sometimes be finicky, but it largely works for its intended purpose.
