I ended up ordering ecobee 3 with sensor for $149, OP you should change the title to include that too.

I received this email from ga power as well. Seems like a good deal. Is ecobee better than nest?

i'm gathering that ecobee is better if you have the apple home network stuff, perhaps. my question is... is a nest helpful if your a/c just pretty much runs non-stop in the summer?

Well if you live somewhere that your thermostat runs pretty much non-stop during the summer to achieve your desired temperature, then it's probably not going to do much to stop that from happening.

HOWEVER, what I find nest the most useful for is allowing me to have full control over my thermostat system no matter where I'm at. I can check the temperature in my home with the mobile app. When I'm at work and my wife is heading home early, with the click of a button on my phone, I end Auto-Away early so the house cools down before she gets there. I can view my usage history at a glance to see how much the system runs from day to day.

I am a self admitted tech geek, I love having these controls and ability to monitor at my fingertips. It's just another step in the smart-home tech controlling world. I love it. Some may not care less.

My basement thermostat is on the fritz so its time to upgrade...the deal is still going on. I was able to get two of these for $300.

Thanks OP!
