Not sure that's true. Running 5.0 rooted on my LG volt from Virgin.

I have this phone, and after a month or so 'Google Play Services' grows to such a massive file, there is NO storage left (even though I have little else downloaded/loaded onto the phone's internal memory). As a result, the phone becomes essentially unusable. I can't even check my emails on it anymore! I've factory refreshed it twice now and it just keeps happening! It's maddening. So I use my $10 Windows phone which works like a charm!

That happens when you turn off Cell network. Now I keep the Cell signal on and that doesn't happen so regularly. Also, deleting data on Play services helps too.

Unlockable and rootable, unless they've changed things recently but I haven't come across any news of it.

Volt makes for a very nice media controller, the IR blaster isn't as great as it could be because it isn't supported by 3rd party apps so you are limited to the QuickRemote software that comes with it (and the Volt version is limited compared to the G2/G3 versions) but it's still pretty functional.

TV support:
LG
Sony
Samsung
Vizio
Panasonic
Phillips
Sanyo
Sharp
Toshiba
Westinghouse

Cablebox:
Comcast
DirectTV
Dish
TWC
Cox
Brighthouse
Charter
Verizon

I have mine setup purely as a TV remote + FTV remote + Plex/Casting device and it does pretty well.

Just installed CM 12 (android 5.1) very easily following instructions from this thread:

Great phone, my VM version is rooted and unlocked. However, the screen develops random spots on it and the battery bloat is crazy on this thing after 6 months of farming.

Got the same issue before, how do you safely delete data on play services? Seems to be quite a few discussions on this topic like http://android.stackexchange.com/questions/117582/where-is-data-of-google-play-services-located-in-device-can-i-safely-delete-it and http://forums.androidcentral.com/ask-question/597904-google-play-services-taking-up-22-19gb-my-internal-storage-my-nexus-6-a.html

Just go to Settings/Apps/Google Play Services/ManageSpace/ClearALLData.

There is no harm, it WILL recreate any necessary data shortly after. Hopefully at a much slower rate if you keep Cell Network on at all times.

Got you, used that before but it's a temporary fix. Was looking at link2sd to move apps to physical SD card but can't move Gplay....

I do turn the cell service off a lot because otherwise the battery is dead within a day. I still cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to get my internal storage back short of doing a full factory reset (which is maddening). It's to the point where I just don't use this phone anymore.

Going to Settings/Apps/Google Play Services/ManageSpace/ClearALLData says clearing the data would only clear 150MB of space, so that's not going to do much.
