I have this model - got it off Amazon at the beginning of the year and have used it 2-3 times now with great success. It seems this model is discontinued at least on Amazon... I see newer models that may have 'replaced' it so am wondering if this sale at Newegg is back/old stock... a couple reviews on Newegg aren't too great either. It's easy to use and seems to be holding its charge well. First time I used it was after draining the battery from leaving the keys in the ignition of my wife's Rav4. Second time, we were gone for 1.5 weeks and left the Rav4 parked at a lot across from the airport; when we got back the battery was dead. Started the engine with this starter both times without much of a hitch... it's great. I'm tempted to get another one.

Warranty info here. [ravpower.com]

It's interesting that I can't find anyone selling these other than NewEgg and some vendors on eBay....

Seems like a decent price. What is everyone's thoughts?

You can get this on eBay for $65 so the NewEgg price is way overblown. That being said, the warranty for RavPower is pretty decent and they tend to make good recharge batteries in general.

Here's a list of the 7 best portable jump starters. [carbatterychargerscentral.com] The best of the best is Anti-Gravity's X-10 (which will set you back $160). The X-10 uses a 18Ah battery with 600A peak cranking power.

This is 12Ah with 500A peak cranking, but it's a quarter of the cost. This would be good if you had a v4 or maybe a v6. It probably wouldn't be able to jump a v8.

What he said. NewEgg indicates MSRP is $170.

The regular price being $60-$65 per ebay? Back when this could be had for $50 on Amazon, this was a good deal... if $40 is "overblown" and still too high, what then is a "good price" for something like this?

EDIT: Just read the part about the MSRP - I see now - you mean Newegg's MSRP is overblown... that I agree with. As far as the price it's currently at now though, I'd say that's pretty good; especially if you've been shopping around for one. Not sure how much cheaper these things have gotten. Maybe $30? I haven't really seen that many deals for these portable lithium jumpstarters.

No, we're saying that the MSRP on NewEgg suggest the regular price is $170 (which its not as you can score this any day of the week on eBay for $65 [ebay.com]). Therefore this is basically $25 off MSRP. The eBay is FS and no tax. You'll get taxed @ NewEgg if you're in CA, IN, NJ or TN.

Therefore this deal is more "warm" than slick.

Tax for me here in CA is $3. That's $42.99 after tax and free shipping from Newegg. That's a lot better than $65 even with FS/No tax. I got this for around $50 from Amazon back in January this year, and that was a pretty good deal back then. It's not slick but is a good deal for anyone looking for one of these. Ravpower has a good track record too.

For reference, here is the thread that prompted me to get it back in January - https://slickdeals.net/f/8450777-ravpower-usb-car-jump-starter-power-bank-12000mah-500a-peak-48-free-shipping

I don't think the price has ever been lower than this current offering from Newegg. I could be mistaken but I just haven't seen anything. Are/were there better priced portable lithium jumpstarters out there recently?

I got a deal alert this AM for a 600A 18mAh jump starter on Amazon listed for $69.99 + FS and it includes a mini air pump. Not sure how much used I'd get out of the air pump for a car, but I think it might be a good thing to have on hand for my motorcycle, bikes, hand truck, wheelbarrow/wagon, etc. around the house.

I'm a little wary of all the off-brands flooding the market, but I think that a lot of these probably source their components from the same manufacturers and I'm curious how much variation there is in the different brands...

Good thing I tried it before I really needed it. If not, I'd still be looking for a jump. Frown
