New Grubhub and Seamless accounts (possibly limited areas): one Grubhub code for $10 off $15+ order via Gilt City voucher

Hello, I hope you are doing well.

GiltCity.com [giltcity.com] is offering one Grubhub code for a $10 off $15+ order, for new Grubhub accounts only. A minimum order of $15 is required before sales tax and tips.

GiltCity.com [giltcity.com] is also offering one Seamless code for a $10 off $15+ order, for new Seamless accounts only. A minimum order of $15 is required before sales tax and tips. (Slickdeals member BaruchAtah notified me of this offer; thank you!)

Seamless code is OOS

Author's notes:
  • A credit card is not required at Gilt City to redeem a voucher.
  • Gilt City likely has very limited vouchers available.
  • I have "possibly limited areas" in the thread title because Gilt City seems to imply this offer is only valid in a few cities. However, my limited personal testing seems to show that this offer is valid in all Grubhub markets.
  • After order placement, I received an automated email stating, "Your voucher, complete with redemption instructions, will be emailed to you within 24 hours." I received my voucher via email within 10 minutes.
  • If you have Grubhub-related questions that you think I can answer, please feel free to post a response and I will try to help. For what it's worth, I have placed hundreds of Grubhub orders.
Fine print:
  • Redeem by: 11:59 PM ET on September 30, 2016
  • This offer is subject to Terms and Conditions [giltcity.com]
  • Valid on first Grubhub order only, subject to Grubhub's verification
  • Minimum order of $15 required before tax, tip and delivery fee
  • Valid for one-time use only
  • Valid on personal (non-corporate) accounts
  • Offer cannot be combined with other offers or promotions
Enjoy!

Seamless too (although they're both the same now):

New accounts. I think they can track by delivery address so multiples available for pickup afaik.

Thank you! I'll add this to this thread, but if you start a new one, please do let me know and I'll direct people there instead.

I hope I don't regret oversharing publicly.

Without saying too much, I recommend:
  • Different email address. (requirement)
  • Different phone number. (requirement)
    • If the same phone number is used, it will not show as a new account.
  • Different name. (optional)
    • The name does not need to match the credit card, but note that this is the name that the restaurant will see.
    • Using the same name should be fine, but may lead to Grubhub catching on quicker.
    • I recommend using a last initial instead of a full last name.
  • Different credit card information. (optional, but recommended)
    • Virtual credit card numbers work well.
  • Different postal address. (optional, but recommended)
    • Other than the zip code, the address does not need to match the credit card. If you're doing a pick-up order, feel free to enter any address. If it's for delivery, you probably want to enter your actual or a nearby address in order to receive the order.
I hope this helps,
Tofu Vic

Can you pick up your order to avoid delivery and tips?
EDIT: I guess that's the whole point of this service, to deliver food. But delivery charges and tips negates most part of the discount. That's why I never get things delivered. Avoid some self guilt and just go out and enjoy the air. Smilie

There is a generic $10 off $15+ coupon for GrubHub new accounts. Here is the code: "D2LA019JXJ71".
I have always seen a $10 off $15+ generic code available for new accounts. AFAIK you do not have to purchase this code through giltcity. I might be wrong though.

Edit: NVM the code I posted not working

I pretty much only do pick up just so I feel the discount itself, but agree that if you need delivery it'll at least negate tip + delivery fee + tax in most cases

In my experience in many orders, I have found that the trigger point is the phone number itself. The name, address, etc. does not matter. Unfortunately, this makes delivery a bit difficult as they call you when they arrive, but it doesn't hurt pickup orders.

But can you do pick ups with grubhub and seamless? I assumed these services are for delivering food and won't include pick up options. Have you used either for pick up? thanks Smilie

Of course! Just select the pick up option. I primarily use Grubhub and Seamless for pickups, in fact Smilie

Some other companies, like Sprig or Amazon Restaurants force you to do delivery, but Grubhub/Seamless do not.

You definitely can do pick-up orders, and I do this on a very, very frequent basis. This way, I avoid any possible delivery fees and tips (I do often tip in person for pick-up orders if I feel like it warrants it or if it's a business I visit often).

In San Francisco, there are more businesses that offer pick-up only services than delivery services.

The phone number being used as a tracker is very new for Grubhub. Based on my own testing and experience, Grubhub only started tracking phone numbers in late 2015. I started using Seamless and Grubhub in 2011, and they were pretty lenient with promotions until late 2015.

Yup, this is accurate, but it was only bound to happen sooner or later. I spent an entire weekend trying to figure what tripped the wire haha, it was a lot of anguish in doing trial and error.
