WOW, great deal for a new Onkyo TX-NR747! I checked with Onkyo and OneCall (Huppin's) is an authorized dealer! I'm in for one for our lake place!

+1!!! Worked for me. After about 6 months of not being able to pull the trigger on a receiver... couldn't find the right deal at the right time for me.. Fry's not able to ship and couldn't order in time before they shut off shipping for a promo... and now the 2015 model deals are drying up I am glad I was able to pull the trigger on this.

I was initially going to go with a Denon from fry's, but they do not have powered zone 2 outputs on their receivers. Onkyo does. Enough said!

Moved into my house that had 6 in wall speakers throughout the family room and speakers on the back porch. Looking forward to finally being able to use them!

I can't speak to this model, but I can speak to my experiences with the brand...

After 2 receiver failures in less than a year, they won't get another dime of mine.. Perhaps they've improved in the last 1.5yr or so, but if you Google around (e.g. "Onkyo failure"), you will see a lot of not so happy customers...

I initially bought after a friend recommended it to replace my 8yr old (and still functional 5.1 Sony) when I talked of upgrading to something newer... After ~4mo, my first unit bit the dust - so I dusted off the Sony while sending the unit in for warranty repair...

Using the warranty was a nightmare... Communications with the center they had me send it to were awful - I kept getting the run around about parts being on back order (apparently they had a LOT of failures during this time - something about an HDMI board)...

After more than 3 months without my unit, they contacted me to let me know they were sending me a brand new unit of a higher model... And this pleased me - for about 2 months until it failed and they requested I sent it in for warranty repairs...

It's pieces sit in my basement now, where I've scavenged parts from the circuit boards because the components are more valuable to me at this point than the frustration required to get another lemon.

Congrats, Onkyo - you won!

Oh, and my friend's unit? It failed after less than a year and a half of lite usage...

I was going to buy this last week, but someone mentioned the banding in 4K. This is a HUGE deal killer for me. Not sure when/if this will be corrected.

Get a yamaha. Mine has been running strong going on 14 years.

Loved onkyo, even through the hdmi board recalls (which they honored). But when they removed audyssey in favor of their home-grown calibration, that was it for me.

Next receiver for me will likely be Denon.

Better get a pretty high end model if you like it loud. I got a new one for about $400 last year and it craps out during loud scenes. So disappointed. AVR-X2100W

Noted. I'm pushing 9.2 in a huge room so I have no choice but to go big.

I have the 646 and although I don't have a 4k TV yet, I was curious about the issue. I found this [onkyousa.com] guy who had the problem and posted on the official Onkyo support forum. He posted an update today and doesn't seem to have the problem anymore.

Nice find. I am tempted to buy this as I loved my last THX Onkyo, except for the blue sparkle issue. I got the Denon because of that, but the sound on my Denon sucks by comparison.
