I give fakespot an F. All u have to do is click on a an Amazon reviewers name and see what else they've reviewed. If this is the only thing and it's 5 star, I'd toss it. For these earphones, I clicked on several 5 star reviewers and their other reviews varied in content and ratings. They weren't "robots" or fake or whatever fakespot would consider them.

Looks like people got free samples in exchange for "unbiased" reviews, you can use fakespot as a guide, and your brain or gut as the ultimate decider...

Some reviews say this at the bottom:
I received this product at a discount price in exchange for an honest review.

I think this is a subversion of Amazon's whole review ideology where people who bought the item would take into account spending their own money and how the product compared to the VALUE they expected. Take the money/risk out of the equation, and you've bucked the system... of course all these people liked the earbuds, they provided a good cost/benefit ratio... ie. no cost, all benefit.

One way around this is to pay close attention to the line under the reviewer that says "Verified Purchaser"

Go to the bottom of the page where it says "see all reviews", click that, then set the filter to show ONLY VERIFIED PURCHASES, then do your reading...

Looking at that view, these earbuds look well received...

Verified purchases also include those who got the item at a discount or free. Don't let that fool you. I buy items with good and bad reviews because you can't make everyone happy. Just use judgment on all items. If you buy the item at walmart and write the review, it's not verified.

Good point... I DO tend to read the bad reviews more closely than the good ones, because I want to see what people complain about...

thanks!

They may not be robots but they may be accounts getting paid to post positive reviews on products. For which, they take the time and effort to make it look like they have a "fleshed out" Amazon account with credible reviews. Which is why tools like Fakespot are useful, they help weed out the reviews which are "cut-n-paste" provided to the user by the company producing the product or a PR company on behalf of the company producing the product.

I just check and see how many for sale used and refurbished there are.

try picking a different color. Worked for me for the black wood version.

also, if reviews is what you want, some peeps at head-fi seem to like them as well. That for me is enough to pay 12 dollars for.
