Its $699 + $15 s/h at Costco.com right and includes a 16GB microSD card and stylus. I live in Oregon with no sales tax so I'm not sure how that will affect those in other states. I also had a $25 off $250 online coupon from the livingsocial Costco signup deal a while back, so it ended up being $690 shipped.

This is pretty interesting. Hopefully it puts some downward pressure on the prices of those SP4s. I especially like that this includes a back-light keyboard.

Pretty sure the costco one does not come with a pen though... Not that they are expensive, its synaptics and semi-trash anyway.

Pretty sure Costco does come with a pen. It says so in the description.

You can save on shipping if your local store carries it (like mine).

Battery life is the main thing holding this back.

Why didn't Acer use Core M? That would have helped with the battery life issues.

Power vs Battery Life, hard to have the best of both.

I'm contemplating picking one of these up to replace my desktop, it has USB C out so you can pick up a dock with HDMI video, gigabit Ethernet, extra USB ports, etc. Only thing holding me back is the inevitable release of the ASUS Transformer 3 and Pro 3.

The benefit of USB C and compatible docks make either of these a more attractive option at replacing my desktop than a Surface Pro 4. I'm sure the SP5 will have USB C, but rumors point to 2017 for that.

This deal at costco has been around since last month. There were a few posts about it but none really got any traction. I genuinely wonder why? I was going to replace my wife's old lappy with this thing.
I wonder what the price trend for these things are. If it drops a couple hundred bucks in a few months (like BF) I could wait.
What is the return policy for costco on these laptops? 30 days?

Transformer Pro 3 looks to only be $100 price differential between it and equivalent specced Surface. Asus quality and intangibles such as form factor and keyboard feedback do seem to be better than the Surface 4 though. But This Acer is like a $300+ Price Differential.

Dock is a little over $100 on Surface. You get 8gb instead of 4gb of ram ($100 on Surface Pro), and 256 GB SSD ($100). Resolution is a little less but 2k is fine IMO and Microsoft's resolution makes it eat up a lot of battery life. I am comparing the specs to the $699 Surface Pro that has made the front page multiple times and will continue to be at that price in my opinion because Microsoft heavily promotes the Surface line.

The reviews are very mixed on this thing. In terms of power it is a fantastic value, but the battery life itself is the biggest thing. It's about an hour less than the Surface Pro 4 even though it has about the same battery size. I assume it's because the i5 inside doesn't throttle thermally like the Microsoft one does.

In my experience, 4-5 hours is really not enough battery life. You're constantly worrying about being near an outlet or having some runaway chrome process drain your battery dead. Only devices that are over 8+ hours battery life are basically worry free in my experience, and the closer to 10 hours the battery. That makes me confident I can go the whole day.

But if you can get over that hump, this tablet is a pretty good deal.
