At Micro Center stores ONLY.
I have this exact model and a surface pro 3 and they are very similar. It is a great machine especially at this price. My local store has 10+ in stock. A few days ago when I got it (well a 2nd one) they only had 2 but they must of got a big order in the past day or so.

$599.99 and $499.99 if you have a .edu email

The only store with any stock left (per the website) is CENTRAL OHIO/COLUMBUS store.
Make a free frog.cc email address to get the $100 off coupon- makes this laptop $499 for everyone

499 is a great price... Gotta make it out there this weekend. I just signed up for their student deals, how long until I get a coupon? Did I miss it by signing up now?

NM just checked... comes instantly.

Wow, very good deal after student discount. Backlit keyboard, water cooling, high resolution... For $500, no brainer

Not close in battery life. Is 3-4 hrs battery life accurate for real world use?

I usually tend to agree. Except I recently got the steelies xl controller and this iPad Pro 12.9 is a gaming beast... Cheap games too!

had it for a week and returned, battery life is really bad, when doing light web browser and document editing, 50% screen brightness, battery barely last 3 hours. totally useless.

This is crap compared to the quality of the Surface Pen / notepad like experience. Not a Surface Pro 4 clone by any stretch of the imagination.

This is a great solution for a desktop replacement (with limited tablet/laptop experience) with a dock such as this: https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matt...ype+c+dock

I'd be all over this if I had a .edu and lived near a MicroCenter, but no luck on either front. The only major con I've heard about this 2-in-1 is battery life. $500 for that kind of power with an included keyboard folio is really a steal though.

I think you're forgetting, it's like HALF THE PRICE of a comparable SP4-spec'd machine with keyboard. Keep that in mind.

This is a steal for the specs and functionality, and a no-brainer if you don't need 4+ hrs of battery life.

I think most people would be willing to pay more for better battery life. 3hrs is just ridiculous.

My battery life has been decent on it, I had about 5-6 hours. We now have 2 in our office. I just bought that one dock but have this one for our other user-
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0...power+dock

it delivers power to the laptop as well. It's great because it's just 1 cable for everything.

With the USB Type C port, can you plug this thing into a portable power bank and keep it charged that way to extend battery life?

So that dock you cited also charges the Acer tablet? I understand that USB-C can transfer power, but didn't realize this unit could receive power via the USB-C port since it has a separate (proprietary?) power input. Does it charge as fast, or not quite, as the power pack / power cable provided?
