How does Asus Vivobook compare to Asus Zenbook with similar specs?

Superior / inferior or about the same?

is it 6gb ram or 4gb, in the ebay listing it says it's 4gb in the description but title says 6gb.

I just received my Vivobook last night. The first things I noticed, the sound is phenomenal - maybe I'm old and inexperienced with the latest and greatest but I have never heard speakers on a computer sounds this good. The screen is gorgeous, too, along with the build quality.

The main reason I bought it, however, in addition to having all the features I could want in a notebook (except an NVMe M.2 slot) was the hope that it could be upgraded to 20GB RAM. With Skylake, the memory controller was moved from the chipset to the CPU, so there is no reason a manufacturer shouldn't let a computer support the maximum amount of RAM that can be physically installed. Since TP301UA has 4GB RAM soldered on-board along with a single SO-DIMM slot, that means, in theory, it should be upgradeable to 20GB of RAM using a Crucial 16GB DDR3L SODIMM CT204864BF160B. However, upon installing said SODIMM, I found that is unfortunately not the case. For whatever reason, ASUS decided to limit the total RAM to 12GB. I'm really disappointed - lots of times manufacturers will say a device or motherboard is limited to a certain amount of RAM only because they are making their calculations using the highest capacity RAM available in the marketplace at that time. For example, a friend of mine has a Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 11e, which Lenovo states can take a maximum of 8GB RAM. However, he has a Crucial 16GB CT204864BF160B SODIMM installed, and it indeed works at the full 16GB. I emailed ASUS about the situation, asking them if they could possibly update the BIOS (which I'm guessing must be the limiting factor, because again, the memory controller is on the CPU) in the future to support said 16GB SODIMM. They responded with what I think was a generic response to a RAM-upgrade-issue type question, stating that it only supports 4GB and 8GB SODIMMs. Not even a recognition of the fact that the whole point of my service ticket was to get an answer to "could you add support for this hardware in the future." Anyways, to make a long story longer, this is an awesome notebook in nearly every way (for me), but unfortunately only supports a max of 12GB RAM. I was hoping my search for the perfect notebook would be over with this purchase but I guess not. Now I have got to sell it myself since Adorama does not take returns of computers when the box has been opened.
