I can't say enough good about this smoker. it is a no bells and whistles sort of deal, but I used it to smoke a LOT of meat for ~5 years. ducks. chicken. ribs. too many turkeys to count. Boston butts. you name it, I smoked it on this thing. I have since moved to a charcoal deal, but charcoal takes a lot more attention and experience. this smoker was extremely simple and maintained fairly constant temperature.

the one big bad thing that caused me to get rid of it was that it has no temperature control. it stays right around 230, which is pretty hot for many things and not nearly hot enough for others. that being said, if I had to choose one temp to cook everything at, this would be it.

as a first smoker to ease you into the craft, I can't recommend this enough. especially at $30.

Is it in stock anywhere in the country? Out of stock online, not available for store pick up from anywhere it seems.

Thanks and repped OP and Sleuth. Didn't find the gourmet, but I got the smaller model 810-5302-S for $15 after I applied some old $10 points. It wasn't available for pickup at my local store but I am going out of town this weekend and the store up there happened to have it. I have used the red gourmet one before but not this smaller one.. Hope it works well also. The best smoked brisket in my life was made on the red gourmet version.

I just saw this in stock at a bigger store yesterday. They had 2-3 left. If I didn't already purchase a masterbuilt Bluetooth one, I would have pulled the trigger no doubt.

If you search under "As seen on TV", there are a few Brinkmann items with abbreviated titles, such as "Prem All-In-One". A couple are available for shipping.

Had a similar electric smoker, pure garbage, doesnt allow for easy addition of more chips, hard to maintain temps, thermometer is trash, it will take a lot of work to cook something decent on this.

I own this smoker - it can be challenging to add new chips if you want to get some genuine smokeyness, but for $30 you will be more than satisfied. This thing can hold 6 chickens (3 on each rack). Shame I'm nowhere near one in stock or I would buy them out and use them as gifts and backups.

Regarding the lack of adjustable vents in the lid.

Some nice deals. The Brinkmann smokers are cheap, but can do a good job, especially if you take the time to get them working better (control airflow).
Wish there was a Kmart anywhere near me so I could stock up on some wood chunks really. They're not that expensive, but 18lb for $6 is a bargain for the fruit woods. Think I paid around $1/lb last time I bought cherry chunks.

I bought this back when Kmart first started the brinkman sale. works pretty good, though I'm a novice smoker. a couple things:

get some extra lava rocks....the rocks they give you don't cover the heating element at all.

it has no vents, but it vens through the cap by design. the cap doesn't fit perfectly snug for this reason.

as others have said it's hard to put new chips in, so I'd look for a long, this smoke box that you could grab with tongs.

There are YouTube videos about this smoker. I followed the one that puts cat food cans under the heater. Wood chips (in foil) go into smaller cans that then can easily be placed into the cat food cans. (I modified it. Rather than screwing the cans down I used tin-snips to make metal tabs at the top that I wrapped around the element.) I you wanted to add more ou could just reach in with tongs and pullout out the can.

Chicken legs take FOREVER to cook to the point where my family will eat them (No hint of red on the bone).
