Glad I waited instead of picking up the 3000W Gentron unit at Sam's last weekend. Just picked this one up for hurricane season.

Already bought from them. A lot of generators arrived damaged (including mine). Had to return it for refund (they accepted to pay for return shipping)...

I have a Durostar DS4000S, which looks exactly the same as this model with yellow instead of a red gas tank. It has been very good and surprisingly reliable for a cheap chinese generator. Like exactly the same, the Duromax/Durostar logos are the same font.

Thanks for the reminder, I should probably go start it up, it's been a few months (I hear the key to keeping these things going is to run them every once in a while).

For 24 hour use: Find a cheap muffler to silence, create a dirt barrier around the unit, along with a rain cover, add a waterproof fan, and get an extended warranty, perhaps a Squaretrade one.
Are there return centers to avoid shipping costs for when this thing needs overhaul maintenance every 3000 hours or so? Or is that too optimistic?

Put some stabilizer fuel in the tank.

Also, if the gen does not turn over because it has been stored for over 2 years, simple.

Take off the air filter. Turn the choke half open and half close. Spray some carburetor cleaner (couple of spray if good enough). Put the filter back.

Second, remove the carburetor catch pan screw. Drain the fuel and finger re-tighten the bolt.

Start up the gen in just one pull. Works every time after a prolong period of storage. BTW, leaving gas in the tank is not good. it contaminates and foul your carburetor. Better to use a siphon to remove the remaining gas.

not CARB-compliant.

You will need a CARB-complaint model in California.

What is a good generator to power a house? I live in Cali. I mainly care about computers and Internet staying on.

if just computer and internet then a backup power supply will do just fine, i "think" i was told a generator electricity isn't good for electronics but i might be wrong,
