This removes almost no water. 8oz/day? I have a 50pt dehumidifier that takes out 3-4 GALLONS a day from a 400-500sq ft area. 8 ounces is like 1/2 a water bottle...

Homasy makes good stuff, but the amount of water this thing claims to remove is pretty negligible. May be good for a small room for a child or a small bathroom.

Has anyone used these in a gun safe/cabinet?

Those mini fridges with Peltier are really bad. I wouldn't expect much more from this, As per above a cup of water from even a single room is pretty lame.

This is completely ridiculous. Go and get some Damp Rid and accomplish the same thing for a lot less money.

This is more for confined spaces than 500 sqft rooms/floors

Didn't know about this stuff. I've been researching buying a dehumidifier (not this one, too small) for a very damp small basement (old house, uneven stone walls, dirt floor w/gravel on top.) The high price of a 50-75 pint unit puts me off and some of the reviews on some brands' units scare me. I'm going to try a bucket of this. Thanks and repped!

I have this exact model, and it's absolutely junk. Unless you're in HEAVY humidity, it's just a power rob and a noisemaker.

I ended up using damp rid as a previous comment suggested, and it worked great. And doesn't use electricity. Also, it's cheaper.

Seriously, DAMP RID will do a much better job under the sink cabinets or in other confined spaces where you need to keep humidity down. Home Depot sells a 4lb container good for six months for less than $10. If you need humidity control for a room, you need a real dehumidifier.
