Picked one up as a low-cost HTPC replacement

You can get Dell refurbs for this price with 500GB-1TB drives. Watch for coupon threads for the business outlet.

I've been checking for the last month or so and the cheapest I've seen is around 200 (after 40% off)

Your right on the others except I couldn't find one with OS and USB3. (eSata was just a nice bonus.)

But it probably isn't as slick as I first thought. Apologies

Given that the processors alone are selling for $80 on ebay, I'd say this is a good deal IF you have a need for something like this.

Note that the free upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10 is no longer available.

Sure it is. I just did one yesterday. Just download the Windows 10 media creation tool and start the upgrade from there. The automatic Windows Update nag upgrade is gone, that's all.

I picked up the attached open box i7 from Microcenter yesterday. It had been returned and repaired a couple times... apparently no one has any troubleshooting skills. The PSU is weak and it reset under load. Put in a $25 supply and I have a Haswell i7 for <$200. Upgraded to Windows 10 and activated without issue.

I'm just going by THIS [microsoft.com].

Is the Windows 10 free upgrade offer still available?
No, the Windows 10 free upgrade offer ended on July 29, 2016.
Windows 10 will continue to be available for purchase, either on a device or as a full version of the software. A discounted "upgrade" version of Windows 10 will not be for sale.

Its still free if you use "assistive technologies" such as an on screen keyboard or whatever:

It still works with the media creation tool, I've done it a couple times... Google it. Here's another article about the continued availability: http://www.howtogeek.com/265409/y...lity-site/

It was... I figured an employee would snatch it up, but they actually put it aside and I picked it up. The case has a couple scratches on the side, and I'm working with ASUS on getting a replacement PSU under warranty. That, and when their tech replaced the motherboard in their troubleshooting they used way too much paste on the CPU and it would heat up and throttle. Overall, about an hour of my time and it's working like new.

If you have a Microcenter close, just troll their open box stuff regularly and these things pop up. I got the attached i5 with GTX645 for <$200 last month. Plastic on the case had a crack, but it works just fine.

That's the official extension. The media creation tool still works for now, as well.

Absolutely.Upgraded from the existing Windows 7 Pro from within the OS using the media creation tool. After it's done it is fully activated. I then proceeded to do a clean install with the USB stick from the tool and it also was activated without issue. All MS did was remove the windows update nagware version of the upgrade. The other methods still work fine, and fully activate.
