youll have those who say they do nothing and a regular towel is fine. but personally i prefer these over regular towels.

Amaxon has this for $11.60 so the $17.98 is a little inflated but the $4.99 makes me want one

The tube looking one (multi-cool) or the towel? Mission brand?

I don't have this towel, but I picked up a two pack at Sam's Club for the same price ($10 for two). They're decent, but not as amazing as they're made out to be. Basically, it's better than a towel in the sense that it stays wet for awhile after soaking it, and because it stays wet, it cools you off, but it tends to dry out pretty quickly and lose its cooling effect. I use it and don't regret the purchase, but the "normal" prices are insane, not even close to being worth $20.

Don't discount the sun protection aspect of these. The cooling thing is just simple evaporative cooling, but I use the sleeve (or cylindrical) version of these for protecting my face/ears/neck from the sun and they're phenomenal.

I've tried these and wasn't sold they just feel wet not really that cool. You probably could just wet a towel and get the same results.

Great sweat rag, dries quick, and doesn't feel rough. I use their tech knit stuff, not the shammy type.

The towel, mission brand. Mine only had neon yellow and blue ones.

FWIW I have used the FroggsToggs version of the cooling towel and it does have a cooling effect that lasts several hours. I never measured the temperature of the towel, but I think I will. I can only say that I think the results vary with the brand, outside temperature and your expectations.
