There is nothing but a pure rumor about that to the best of my knowledge based off a Patent recently filed.

This. With the way they treated the Vita, I doubt they'll continue trying to do handheld gaming and announce another handheld device.

I wonder what the firmware version on these would be. Might be worth it if you could hack it for homebrews and side loading

You can hack the newest firmware with HENkaku. Just click a button in the browser and you're done.

nope, newest is 3.61 henkaku requires 3.60. These should be fine though... unless they've updated them in the last week or so.

The only reason I would want to hack it is to play PSone games that Sony USA says cannot be played on the Vita (for licensing reasons) but they are totally available in other regions for the Vita. I don't want to keep switching between accounts from different territories just to play them. Ugh

For like a week a couple of years ago, all PS1 games worked on the Vita. It was pretty cool. They patched it though.

Ah, I didn't realize there was an update. I don't use my Vita much these days. Turned it on, installed HENkaku, then turned it off...

In the United States, yes. In Japan, it seems to be doing well. I use my Vita as a my PS+ machine since I already have a PS4 and PS3.

Hold your horses....just a rumour. But, as always....where there is smoke....there is fire.

Correct. I kept my PSTV at 3.60. Although, I do Remote Play a lot through it and now i can't due to the 3.61 update.

If you've been collecting free games from PS+ for a while now, and haven't been forgetting to get your Vita games, you have a library waiting for you.

$100 for a dead system? Not worth it. $100 for a dead system with 70+ games to play? Depending on how long you've been collecting, very worth it.
