Place the receiver inside your house spot with accessibility to the outside wall closest to where you will connect the speaker. If you have a standard frame wall, drill a hole through the siding and use one of these to run the speaker wire through the wall to the outside: http://www.a1components.com/BVMod...aQodbKYP_A

You can now run multiple pairs of speakers to the receiver. Be careful that the total impedance of the speakers is not lower than the impedance rating on the receiver. Most cheap receivers are 8 ohms minimum, some go as low as 4 or even 2 ohms.

I have 3 pair of speakers under my deck wired in Series/Parallel in order to get to the right impedance. I have each pair on a volume control in a water resistant housing, purchased separately, so I can control the volume of each pair separately: http://www.walmart.com/ip/2197827...3=&veh=sem

Then I use a Chromecast Audio to stream music to the receiver: https://www.google.com/chromecast...oCM7fw_wcB
Yes, you will need a stereo receiver. They aren't powered speakers. I have these exact same speakers (in white color) on my back deck and they are great. If you don't have a receiver, I would suggest buying a simple 2-channel stereo receiver like the Sony STR-DH130 [amazon.com]. Both the Atrium 4 speakers and receiver are rated for 8 ohms. In plain terms, this helps to prevent the speakers from being damaged. Plus, this specific receiver has an A-B switch where you can connect 4 speakers at once and use all 4 at once (A + B) or 2 at a time (A or B). I have 2 speakers outside the house and 2 inside and can alternate between the two zones. Hope this helps!

Loud enough.

I have a pair of these on my back deck. They've survived a hot Georgia summer and a winter. I've had them about a year now. Put them under an overhang to maximize their life. Look good, sound good. This is far and away the cheapest price I've seen for new.

That receiver needs to be kept indoors, so do you run speaker wire through your homes brick/siding? What's the recommend setup for outdoor speakers?

I use these on my patio with an OLD, $15 receiver from Goodwill. The receiver lives on a shelf on the garage and the speakers are wired to it. I have a Chromecast Audio hooked to the receiver via an RCA adapter and control everything (Pandora, local music from my NAS, Spotify, volume control) with my phone. Works awesome. And with the Chromecast and wifi, alerts don't sound through the speakers, so no interruptions from text messages or phone calls.

I have 4 of these speakers running off a little 2 channel Lepai amp I got from Amazon for $25. Running them in parallel for a 4 ohm load. Works and sounds great and takes up very little space

"do these speakers work with my iPod?" "will they work with my oster blender?"

good god... some of the questions here.... if you need to ask them, maybe you should hire someone to install them.
