While awesome they are also extremely overpriced. "Rare Earth" elements are not at all rare but difficult to segregate. Neodymium btw is pronounced neo-dim-eum, not nee-O-deeum.

Anytime magna tiles or related building sets get to $1 per tile or below it's a good deal.

I have both Magna Tiles and Magformers. Magformers have slightly better quality, but I prefer Magna Tiles more as they have straight edges (instead of rounded one in Magformers) so they make it easier to build structures and my son prefers them. Also, I recently found out about other generic brand Magna Tiles compatible sets. I was hesitant at first, but ordered a small set and they are just as good quality as Magna Tiles and are completely compatible with the existing set of Magna Tiles we had. These generic brand ones were half the price ($25 for 32 pc set compared to around $50 for Magna Tiles). Just some information for folks who may be wondering just like I was about a year ago.

have both Magna Tiles and Magformers as well. Just FYI, these two sets are not compatible. Kids love them both.
