Walmart [walmart.com] has the LG K7 (Walmart Family Mobile branded) prepaid smartphone for $49.88 + tax for store pickup. This is similiar to a previous deal from Best Buy last month.
Note: Phone is locked [reddit.com] and will not work on T-mobile without unlocking. The LG K7 supports WiFi calling and VoLTE/band 12 [spectrumgateway.com]
***Update*** You can flash the stock T-Mobile firmware to allow it to work on T-Mobile.

I purchased Walmart family mobile before and stuck in a t-mobile sim chips and it works right out of the box. The most recent one was the LG stylo from Walmart Family Mobile.

I just think OP's post about the phone being locked is not true in accepting t-mobile sims.

You should read that reddit thread. Older K7's are still T-Mobile SIM compatible, the latest ones are locked to WFM.

if its locked to wfm then it completely throws away the usefulness of it.

but i wonder if the unlock method for tribute 5 (boost's version of k7) is applicable.

I see. Well that sucks maybe t-mobile is getting tired of people not buying the overpriced phones from their website.

Same thing happened with Target's Brightspot (T-Mobile MVNO). They eventually started hard-locking Brightspot phones to Brightspot-only (when T-Mo SIM swaps were the norm)

The Tribute 5 at Best Buy is a better buy if it's still available.

Nope, It doesn't work. The unlock procedure involves the T-mobile Device Unlock app. I don't know a way around this and the lock seems to involve the radio.

I bought the K7 yesterday and paid for the unlock ($8 on cellunlockerpro). Received the code, but unable to enter it in the dialer (2945#*330# doesn't open up a new menu). I assume this is due to the stupid T-Mobile Device unlock app. Any way to go around it (debrand or uninstall it somehow)? I looked on XDA and no luck finding anything. Ideas?

I ran across this, but have not tried it: cellunlocker.net [cellunlocker.net] Looks like it's $25 EEK!
