Note this TV is not true 4K and uses RGBW (look it up) which causes problems like constantly changing picture brightness which cannot be turned off.

Tried this out earlier as a computer monitor. Weird dimming issues w light and dark images combined on screen (like a google search page over a dark desktop background). No changed settings helped. No go for me.
I bought this TV a few months ago for $299 and I think it's a great value. I also purchased the 3 yr Walmart warranty for $26 just in case.

I primarily use it for Netflix and general TV and I've not had any issues with it. I have not tried any "4K" content on it, so I can't comment on that.

I have noticed that the colors aren't are sharp as my other more expensive TV, but it's a freakin sub $300 49" TV...don't expect it to outshine the $1000 TVs.

MAJOR CON: The sound from this TV is worse than some cell phones. Use a soundbar or something similar.

Overall, I am happy with the features and value provided by this set.

Yeah it's alive for more than a week now and I ordered last Friday with a store pick up as I am afraid with so many broken screen reviews in ship to home reviews

What's the best price anyone has seen on the 55" Sceptre? Walmart has the 4k for $379 and the non-4k for $349.

This tv has been $279 for the last two weeks that I've been looking at it. Thought this was the regular price.

Weird dimming issue sounds like Dynamic Contrast might be turned on since that will adjust the contrast based on the brightness of whatever you're viewing on the screen. It's an incredibly annoying feature.

can anyone advise a good ( and cheap - below $50) sound bar for this?

nvm, it's prob thus one doing 120 up sampling, if you search the questions about chroma 4:4:4 they point to a 120hz model (this) but don't say its motion sample software

Better to just save up a little for a good soundbar with a sub.
